Summary of Position:  

AgustaWestland Philadelphia Corporation is looking for a highly motivated self-starter who has a passion for aerospace engineering. The selected candidate will need to provide engineering management lead for aircraft integration, qualification, and certification activities for General Airframe Systems group, to meet company’s safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets. 

Daily duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing the General Airframe Systems group which includes providing leadership to each of two Mechanical System Engineers.
  • Develop Systems Engineering capabilities within AWPC so that AWPC Engineering can better support cross-geographical activities for design and certification efforts.
  • Direct management of the technical team, as well as fostering technical mentorship and development of the design engineers and draftsmen, responsible for the team’s preparation of new designs.
  • Leading TC/Kits design and support certification activity for AWPC production build including budget evaluation, project timing definition, definition of applicable requirements and means of compliance 
  • Plan, manage and execute design activities for AWPC in coordination with Airframe Systems Department disciplines. Concurrent engineering for industrialization of new design improvements.
  • Proactively drive team working, promote the integration to build a cross-functional alliance with AWPC OPS, SCM, Quality and vendors, by sponsoring lean initiative implementations for cost reduction and continuous improvement.

Support General Airframe Systems as TL (Pitot, Windshield Wiper, Flotation, Oxygen, De-Ice) qualification and certification activities; review of the relevant documentation for compliance to the applicable certification rules at equipment and aircraft level.

Develop and implement technical documentation as TL (test plans, test reports, analysis reports) cost targets and schedule adherence for design/development, upgrade, testing, qualification and support of the AW609 certification

3.

Support development of Systems Engineering competencies and overall team development and mentorship.

Provide support for production and troubleshooting activities

5.

Coordinate with AW609 IDT’s and global supply chain and engineering disciplines across the company, to ensure alignment across physical, functional, and organizational interfaces.

  1. Qualifications for Position

         A. Education

 Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering

 

         B. Experience

10 years of experience in aerospace design organization with at least 5 in an engineering management position

  

         C. Competencies & Attributes

1.

Strong understanding of General Airframe Systems (Pitot, Windshield Wiper, Flotation, Oxygen, De-Ice) components development and aircraft integration.

2. 

Analytical and design skills. Proven experience to create plans and design models, communicate them efficiently across a diverse, complex and multicultural organization.

3.

General understanding of systems engineering methodology, tools, and processes

4.

Communication and presentation skills, ability to effectively communicate to all levels of the organization, ability to negotiate win-win solutions in the presence of conflict and ambiguity, and ability to be a persuasive advocate to internal and external customers and as necessary to interface with certification authorities

5.

Familiar with requirements management in general and particularly with certification requirements (FAR/CS 27, FAR/CS 29).

6.

Domestic and International travelling for short periods may be required on an occasional basis
