Job Summary:

The P&W Quality & Process Engineering (Q&PE) organization is looking for a motivated, technically oriented leader to partner with the Columbus Forge Disks (CFD) P&W business units to develop and continuously improve our NDT Ultrasonic systems.  The successful candidate will combine technical experience and demonstrated success working with key CFD organizations and leading a team of talented technical individuals through highly visible and high priority UT activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading a team of certified technical experts providing support to the CFD Facility.
  • Collaborate effectively with the CFD Operations team and the CT-based Core team.
  • Integrate with Sonic IPT and other key Sonic customers to prioritize critical work.
  • Provide technical support and procedural guidance.
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement and new initiatives.
  • Communicate with upper management on status and risks to program schedule.
  • Participate in weekly status and priority meetings to upper management.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 10 years prior relevant NDT experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years experience.
  • Experience and knowledge of NDT Methods, especially Ultrasonic in an Operations environment.
  • Requires deep management and experience leading multi-department projects and technical teams.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Currently hold or able to obtain a NDT Level 3. Minimum experience: 4 years as a certified NDT L3 inspector. 
  • Experience that includes a background in establishing NDT and general quality systems and NDT methods.  
  • Experience and knowledge in all NDT methods. Ability to interface well with suppliers.
  • Ability to manage supplier oversight strategy and closure of NDT related escapes.
  • Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing operations.  Proven ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management, internal and external customers. 
  • Knowledge and experience with root cause and process control tools.  Experience with SAP and Microsoft suite.

  • Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
