Boeing Research & Technology (BR&T) is the preferred provider of technologies and innovation across the entire Boeing enterprise.  We work across the complete product lifecycle of Boeings commercial aircraft, military aircraft, rotorcraft, space vehicles, UAVs, and advanced vehicle prototypes.  We provide innovative support for our current and future products and services, act as global scouts for innovative technologies, and solve our customers’ most difficult technology challenges.

The BR&T Materials & Manufacturing Technology (MMT) organization is seeking a highly motivated & energetic Next Generation Metals Development Manager to lead its Huntsville, Alabama Next Generation Metals Development Team of Engineers, and Technical Analysts. 

This position will also carry with it the responsibility for managing the Advanced Metals Fabrication Laboratory at the Boeing Huntsville Site and ensuring execution of the work statement that flows through it daily.

Candidates will be self-starters who can develop strong internal and external customer relationships.  Candidates will also be well served by possessing strong teaming and communication skills.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Requires close collaboration with counterparts and stakeholders, internal and external, foreign and domestic. 

  • Identifying and understanding customer needs and then prioritizing the team’s focus to enable the greatest impact for The Boeing Company.

  • Oversee the execution of next generation metals technology development activities and their introduction into the supply chain and onto production systems. 

  • Responsible for engaging key Boeing Huntsville site based programs and growing the BR&T Metal’s Team’s presence and regional impact. 

  • Accountable for capturing and executing on Contracted Research and Development (CRAD) work statement as well as engagement with global BR&T centers. 

  • Providing quality input and recommendations to senior management and strategy leaders is an important aspect of this position. 

  • Championing the Boeing Behaviors, Employee Engagement, Diversity and Inclusion, First Time Quality and Culture to Performance is expected. 

  • Accountable for developing the people and fully leveraging the capabilities of the team and its lab resources.

This position is expected to be 100 onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the Boeing Huntsville, AL location 5 days per week.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • 5+ years of engineering experience

  • Experience working in a lab environment

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with external business capture (Contract Research & Development)

  • 5+ years of engineering experience in the aerospace field

  • 5+ years of Project management experience including leading people

  • Engineering experience in the field of metallic material and/or metallic fabrication technology development

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary pay range: $129,200 - $174,800
