JOB OVERVIEW

The Quality Assurance Manager is accountable for meeting and maintaining KFL Quality Standards, Airworthiness compliance, Regulatory requirements, and Customer satisfaction.  KF currently has very positive TC, ISO, and Customer audit outcomes.  A key part of the QA Manger’s role is to support the organization’s positive Safety Management System Culture, Quality Focus, and Continuous Improvement efforts.     

The successful candidate will be the primary liaison with Transport Canada for the AMO, Fleet Maintenance and Flight Operations; and works closely with the Director of Maintenance, Director of Flight Operations and various department managers.   

This position is responsible for providing leadership and day-to-day supervision to the Quality Assurance, Quality Control and Safety Management teams to ensure they are operating efficiently and effectively.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

The Quality Assurance Manager must have a Transport Canada AME license, a minimum 10 years experience, and will be nominated to hold this regulatory position by the President, and must be accepted by Transport Canada.  The QA Manager reports to the Chief Operating Officer. 

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Certifications

  • Ensures that the Quality Assurance System and Safety Management Systems are established, implemented and maintained in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensures the continued certification of KFL with Transport Canada, ISO, and other relevant agencies.
  • Ensures KF meets or exceeds customer quality standards.

KF Policy and Procedure Manuals

  • Recommends, investigates, and/or approves amendments to all required Manuals.

Manufacturing

  • Responsible for quality standards, quality control of KF Aerospace manufactured items, and product and process conformance to proprietary standards and airworthiness requirements. 

Quality Assurance

  • Ensures the quality assurance system is maintained in accordance with the regulatory requirements.
  • Identifies, initiates, recommends, or provides solutions to quality problems through designated channels and ensure implementation of corrective action plans.
  • Uses timely audits as a basis for improvement of the quality assurance system.
  • Provides QA oversight of the Safety Management System.
  • Ensures conformance to proprietary and airworthiness quality requirements.
  • Ensures that the requirements specified in ISO 9001 are maintained.
  • Reports on the performance of the quality assurance system to management.
  • Develops QA related policies and procedures as required.

Safety Management System (SMS)

  • Responsible for the overall functional administration and co-ordination of SMS to ensure application and consistency of the SMS processes across the organization.

Any other duties assigned to them by the Chief Operating Officer or President. 

REQUIREMENTS 

  • Minimum of 10 years experience in a similar technical leadership position
  • Experience in a QA/SMS role within the aviation industry
  • Must hold a valid TC AME license or have experience related to the audit scope activities and internal / 3rd party audit training
  • Must be capable of obtaining Controlled Goods certification and Secret Security Clearance (Government of Canada) – both require background and criminal record checks
  • Must have an excellent understanding of the Canadian Aviation Regulations
  • Must have experience writing reports and interpreting standards 
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, customer orientation & demonstrated problem-solving focus 
  • Planning, organizing, multitasking skills and attention to detail are required
  • Able to work productively in a fast-paced high-pressure environment
  • Work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Computer skills – Word and Excel Programs
  • Must be able and willing to travel
