MISSION:

Supervise, through respective department Production Supervisors, the safe manufacture of company products, satisfying all quality and productivity requirements in the most cost effective manner. This position is responsible for multiple departments, representing a broad diversity of operations on an entire shift, and reports to either a Production Superintendent or Area Manager.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Responsible for adherence to process control procedures, operating instructions, and all quality control instructions. Prime responsibility to safely manufacture a quality product with minimal scrap or rework, while meeting customer specifications.
  • Responsible for the safe manufacture of products, safety in all areas of the shift, and maintaining a safe work environment. Emphasizes accident prevention. Ensures that legal requirements and company safety policy is enforced.
  • Plans, organizes, and supervises shift operations in accordance with production schedules and requirements of immediate supervisor in the most cost effective manner. Responsible for process control in the entire shift. Maintains total awareness of policies and procedures (including QCM and QCI) and assures compliance by assigned employees.
  • Communicates daily, both verbally and in writing, all discrepancies, changes in schedules, and shift activities of significance. Facilitates shift production meetings.
  • Contacts appropriate engineer or area manager to resolve problems occurring on the shift. Reviews quality and rework problems, and initiates corrective action.
  • Develops, trains, and involves employees and Production Supervisors in maintaining and improving departmental efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, cooperation, and morale.
  • Ensures that all employees work in a safe manner and that each employee is properly trained in all safety procedures. Ensures that good housekeeping practices are routinely followed.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities for repair of critical equipment of shift of responsibility.
  • Works with each employee to effectively resolve grievances and gives necessary feedback on employee performance problems. Input on formal performance appraisals.
  • Assists with and provides input for the annual budget. Aware of how individual departments are performing to annual budget plans.
  • Ensures adequate equipment and supplies are available to complete the task required of their subordinates.
  • Coordinates and directs workforce utilization and attendance to ensure adequate staffing exists to meet required production schedules on shift of responsibility.
  • Coordinates inter-plant and plant-vendor product movement to meet production schedules.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school plus college level courses or equivalent training in manufacturing accounting, mathematics and statistics. Additional training in motivation, problem solving, and group behavior, or completion of PCC Certificate Program. Bachelors in Engineering or Business preferred.
  • Five years’ experience in related production operations with ability to facilitate team problem solving, and communicate both orally and in writing.

INDIVIDUALS MAY HAVE CONTACT WITH OR BE REQUIRED TO HANDLE HAZARDOUS WASTE. May be required to complete hazardous waste management training.
