Job Description:
SMS Manager main roles and responsibilities are as follows:
o Propose the safety objectives of the SMS within his entity and according to the safety
policy;
o Ensures compliance with local regulations in terms of aviation safety, and answers to
the local Authorities;
o Prepares, organizes and conducts the Aviation Safety Reviews of his entity and
compiles the report.
o Perform the analysis of the risk identified
o Follows up the implementation of corrective and preventive measures linked to
Aviation Safety.
o Liaises with the Corporate Aviation Safety Risk Officer during the Aviation Safety Risk
Reviews for the management of AS Risks that can impact the business. He follows-
up and coaches the risk analyses and associated action plan;
o Implements and follows Safety Performance Indicators (SPI) linked to his entity;
o Ensures that all events detected have been the subject of analysis, with the
appropriate level of detail in accordance with the level of severity, and actions in
response to any safety issues detected;
o Notifies the Accountable Manager of the main Aviation Safety risks, opportunities and
events.
o Is responsible for the Aviation Safety promotion within his/her perimeter by:
flowing down the Corporate Aviation Safety messages and materials
promoting Aviation Safety through Safety talks or events to drive Aviation
Safety culture
developing local safety communication, relevant to their own perimeter
keeping informed the Corporate Aviation Safety entity
ensuring all employees (including SMS network) within his/her perimeter are
properly trained
maintaining the currency of his/her Aviation Safety network
o Act as Local Aviation Safety Manager for Part-21G and Part-21J
o Acts as local delegate of the Aviation Safety Manager (for Part-21G and Part-21J).
o Act as Aviation Safety Manager for Part-145, ATO and for Military products
o Ensures the correct operation of the SMS within his/her area.
o Notifies the AH Group Aviation Safety Manager of the main Aviation Safety risks and
events from the local routines of his area (for Part-21G and Part-21J) and to AHE
Aviation Safety Officer in all the areas (Military, Part-145, ATO and Part-21G and
Part-21J).
o Proposes potential AS Representative candidates to the AHE Aviation Safety Officer.
o Prepare and Attend Aviation Safety meetings (AHE-ST, AHE-SC, SAG, SRB and
ASR)
o Update Safety Cube of his/her area
o Support AHE Aviation Safety Officer in updating documents (Military, Part-145, ATO
and Part-21G and Part-21J) and to AH Group Aviation Safety Manager in SDOA and
SPOA Manual (Part-21G and Part-21J).
Training / experience:
Desirable: Aeronautical Degree, Aircraft Pilot or TMA
Aeronautical experience: Minimum 5 years
