Key Responsibilities:

The Senior Crew Scheduler for the Future Desk plays a key people leadership and role in the organization. On a day-to-day, you’ll coordinate recovery from irregular operations and advanced planning, while resolving escalations. You’ll also play a key role in driving forward the strategy and success of the Pilot Crew Scheduling department and have the opportunity to participate in projects that contribute to your own growth and development within the department or towards other roles at United.

This opportunity is in-person at our Network Operations Center in Arlington Heights, IL. This is a fast-paced operational position working different shifts in a 24/7/365 operation, including weekends and holidays, with the potential for overtime in line with department policies. Reliable, punctual, attendance is essential for this position.

  • Monitor operational disruptions from PBS schedule hand off to 48 hours prior to pilots reporting
  • This includes - flight cancellations, Equipment substitutions, Maintenance and charter flight activity
  • Proactive moving of flights and assigning pilots to flying within FAA and UPA guidelines
  • Responsible for various daily Future Desk reports
  • Responsible for monitoring and communicating via various approved communication methods
  • Assign pilots to flying while ensuring strict compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and the United Pilot Agreement (UPA)

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years of Flight Operations or Crew Scheduling experience OR 1+ year Crew Scheduling experience with 2+ years of aviation-related experience (such as resource scheduling, operational, flight training, customer service, or administrative) or demonstrated leadership experience
  • Relevant computer skills (Microsoft Office, CMS, uCrew, Shares, Unimatic)
  • Strong interpersonal and customer-service skills, with de-escalation experience
  • Ability to make prudent, timely, long-term strategic decisions incorporating factors such as team member satisfaction, operational impact, and financial impact
  • Proven leadership skills (employee development, coaching, mentorship, leading by example)
  • Ability to read and write in English

Preferred

  • Bachelors degree
  • 3+ years relevant crew scheduling experience in a fast-paced environment
  • 5+ years airline operational experience
