Job overview and responsibilities

The primary responsibility of the Customs and Trade Sr. Staff Representative is to support the Sr. Manager of Global Logistics in managing import/export operations, customs and trade compliance for United Airlines Technical Operations.

Responsible for European and US Customs entry for Aircraft Spare Parts and support the development of a customs and trade compliance program and infrastructure. Will be responsible for the Accuracy of Schedule B/ HTS and ECCN classifications on Exports and Imports, Tariff/Duty exposure, recordkeeping and reporting, the scope of responsibility includes customs brokers relationship management, entries audits, driving reduction of customs costs, risk mitigation and International Trade Intelligence.

  • Single point of contact for daily execution and monitoring of imports and exports control issues
  • Support the development of customs trade compliance program including the development and implementation of a compliance manual
  • Responsible for development, integration and management of SOPs
  • Lead effort as needed to identify errors and process post entries, amend post entries as necessary
  • Ensure proper product classification for imports, Partnering with Procurement buyers, customs brokers and Suppliers
  • Manage and lead efforts to support customs audits as necessary (internal compliance) or as required by US CBP
  • Liaison between US CPB and all business units

This position is offered on local terms and conditions. Expatriate assignments and sponsorship for employment visas, even on a time-limited visa status, will not be awarded.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelors degree or 4 years of relevant work experience - Business, International Trade, Global Supply Chain Management, or a related field
  • 3-5 years of related work experience
  • 2-4 years experience in Import /Export Trade compliance
  • 2-4 years experience in Global Trade Compliance
  • 2-4 years experience in International Customs Procedures including NAFTA
  • Experience in responding to CBP inquiries or notifications
  • Experience in developing and implementing Import and Export Trade compliance manuals
  • Knowledgeable and have experience in International Customs Procedures Experience and NAFTA regulations
  • Knowledgeable in researching product classification and all applicable regulations related to import and export operations
  • Must be able to interpret regulations and disseminate information to stakeholders, will be required to conduct compliance training to stakeholders
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Must be able to use advance Excel analysis to solve business problems
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organized and process oriented, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment
  • Ability to travel up to 20
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Netherlands for any employer without sponsorship
  • Must be fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

Preferred

  • Knowledge of, and experience in, the Aerospace or Airline industry
  • Licensed Customs Broker
  • Fluent in Dutch (written and spoken)
