Job Summary:

This individual will be responsible for the management of DeltaHawk’s testing department. Primary responsibilities will include oversight of all the organization’s testing needs including: flight, ground, and FAA, management of test data, supervision of test technicians, and upkeep/maintenance of all test assets. Considerations for safety in a diverse environment are of top priority. Collaboration with engineers throughout the testing process will be essential. A background in flight testing and a strong understanding of engineering principles is essential, and an eagerness to work within a diverse team is critical.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a safe testing environment is maintained at all times.
  • Effectively manage and continue to develop DeltaHawk’s overall testing program.
  • Direct, coordinate, and exercise technical authority for test planning, executing and closure of all ground and flight testing.
  • Efficiently manage R&D test technicians.
  • Collaborate with the engineering manager/project lead by providing review/analysis of project test requirements, objectives, and risk assessment.
  • Oversee maintenance, calibration, and documentation for all test assets including: aircraft, dynamometers, and other testing resources. 
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure timely completion of tests while not sacrificing data quality.
  • Compile and analyze test data.
  • Assist departments with test design and planning.
  • Support FAA certification efforts.
Job Requirements:
Required:
  • BS in Aerospace Engineering or equivalent
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Demonstrated collaborative management style with supervision responsibility
  • Ability to effectively communicate with engineering, management, and lab technicians
  • 5 + years of experience in test engineering
  • 2 + years of flight testing experience
Preferred:
  • Engine testing experience
  • Private pilot’s license
  • A&P Certificate
  • FAA designated engineering representative (DER)
  • General aviation experience
