Auckland Airport is the hub of the Air New Zealand network, with more than 1000 Air NZ staff, up to 160 flights, and 17,000 passengers travelling through the airport every day. It is the core of the international operation and the central hub for our domestic fleet. We are seeking a new Head of Auckland Airport to lead our hub airport through this next chapter of the airlines growth and transformation, optimising the efficiency, performance and customer outcomes delivered in the operation.
Vital to the success of Air New Zealands network, the Head of Auckland Airport will be a strong people leader with experience developing, motivating, and connecting with a diverse and passionate workforce. You will bring Mana to the role that will easily build a strong culture and respect with the team and other stakeholders as well as a true focus for the health, safety, and wellbeing of your people. The ability to connect with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation including the executive team, Board, internal business units, and relevant public and private sector entities will be key to your success. Coupled with this leadership ability, you will have an obsession for driving performance improvement, resulting in the best possible outcomes for our stakeholders, employees, and customers.
To be successful in the role we are looking for candidates with:
- Senior level experience in running an airport or similar complex environment with the ability to balance customer, operational and commercial outcomes.
- Large-scale people leadership experience with diverse workforces, frontline leadership, and union engagement.
- Proven track record in driving performance improvement with the ability to set up a structured change program and deliver on outcomes.
- Highly collaborative style, ability to engage with and build relationships with stakeholders across all levels of the organisation and externally.
