The ITSO (IT Services and Airline Operations) organisation manages and is accountable for the rapid delivery of the trustworthy, scalable, and efficient IT infrastructure services needed to support the technology critical for easyJet’s future growth plans and ambitions. 

I&O Platforms are part of the ITSO organisation and form the backbone of easyJets technology capabilities. They underpin nearly everything we do at easyJet - from providing transparency on the state of our technology services to ensuring efficient and secure hosting of our data. Effective I&O Platforms are critical to enabling our future growth aspirations and our ambition to become Europes most loved airline.

I&O Platforms consist of:

-        Observability Platform – monitor end-to-end IT infrastructure, network, and application services.

-        Hosting Platform – provide application teams with technology environments (e.g., server, database, etc.) required to build and run IT solutions.

-        Connectivity Platform – connect devices to our IT services and to the internet.

-        Identity and Access Platform – provide employees with simple and secured access to IT services.

-        IT Common Tools Platform – provide IT leaders and teams tools to work efficiently (e.g., development and testing environments, etc.).

 Each Platform is accountable for the end-to-end delivery of business outcomes and the Platform teams are expected to demonstrate a proactive work mindset in addressing easyJet’s priorities.

Job Purpose  

The Platform Technical Architect is a technical professional who designs, develops, and maintains the architecture of a platform. This role ensures the creation of architecture guardrails that drive autonomous and scalable I&O Platforms that serve as a solid foundation for easyJet’s IT ecosystem, supporting its current and future business needs. They work with a variety of stakeholders, including Product/Platform Engineers, and Product/Platform Leads, to ensure that the platform meets the needs of the business and its users. Platform Technical Architects have a deep understanding of software architecture principles and practices. They are also familiar with a variety of software platforms, including cloud platforms, open-source platforms, and proprietary platforms.

 

The role is critical to ensure the design, implementation, and maintenance of high-quality and efficient I&O Platforms – helping easyJet to stay ahead of platform technological advancements and industry trends.

Job Requirements:

What you need to do the role

>       Extensive experience working as a Platform/Technical architect.

>       Understanding and experience in I&O Platform Architecture with skills in technical architecture, enterprise architecture, application architecture, cloud solutions and ideally vanguard architecture skills.

>       Know of IT service management (ITSM) and Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL)

>       Knowledge of different modelling languages (such as UML and ArchiMate).

>       Understanding of system development life cycle methodologies (agile software development, rapid prototyping, incremental, synchronise and stabilise, and DevOps).

>       Experienced in managing and delivering through third-party suppliers, focusing on business outcomes and employee experience.

>       Excellent interpersonal skills in areas such as facilitation and negotiation.>

Location & Hours of Work

This is a full-time role, we support hybrid and we spend 3 days per week  in the office which is based at Luton Airport.
