Job Description:

Airbus Helicopters is looking for a Summer Intern for Sustainability & Recycling to join our Strategy & Transformation team based in Herndon, VA.

This position will be located in Grand Prairie, TX.

You will be part of a team developing sustainability projects for the Airbus North America region (US & Canada).


 

Your Working Environment:

Your Challenges:

Sustainability projects:  100

  • Conduct sites (cross divisions) assessments to identify current waste management, recycling practices and areas for improvement.

  • Collaborate with teams to identify effective recycling strategies tailored to each location.

  • Research and propose innovative recycling solutions that align with the company&39;s sustainability ambition.

  • Assist in organizing and participating in sustainability events and workshops.

Your Boarding Pass:

  • Need to be currently located or local to the DFW metro area for the Summer Internship period - there is no relocation support for this opportunity - any out of area candidates can be considered but will need to relocate to DFW area at own expense

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s program related to Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, or a related field, required. Enrollment in a master&39;s program is a plus but not required.

  • Prior relevant work / internship experience within a manufacturing setting or the aviation industry (or a combination thereof) is a plus but not required.

  • Up 10 Domestic travel may be involved.

  • Willingness to travel between multiple manufacturing sites, required.

  • Demonstrated passion for sustainability and recycling

  • Creative problem solver who can identify and propose unique recycling solutions

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form in English

  • Excellent communication and social skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Proficiency in Google Suite


 

Physical Requirements

  • Onsite: 100 - unless on travel Daily

  • Vision: able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings daily

  • Hearing: able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds including safety warnings or alarms daily

  • Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications daily

  • Equipment Operation: able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment daily

  • Carrying: able to carry documents, drawings, electronic equipment up to 10lbs daily

  • Lifting: able to lift documents, drawings, electronic equipment up to 10lbs daily

  • Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture occasionally

  • Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer daily

  • Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving occasionally

  • Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices daily

  • Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice occasionally

  • Walking: able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces daily

  • Personal Protective Equipment required: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.

This job requires the ability to work in the US without current, or future, need for visa sponsorship/work authorization.
