Job Description:
Responsibilities

The role of the E-Publisher is to provide a highly usable, relevant, and inviting digital presence in order to effectively connect library users with library resources and services. Maintain a complete and current aircraft and maintenance Technical Operations Library for use by Company personnel.  Bring value to Spirit by ensuring that current technical documents are acquired and distributed effectively in order to ensure safe ongoing technical operations for airworthiness.  Support Spirit personnel, aircraft, and maintenance stations with timely access to documentation and auditing to ensure compliance with the standards of the Technical Publications Department as established in the General Maintenance and Administrative manuals.

 

  • On-time Execution:  Meet monthly deadlines, quarterly audits and respond promptly to publication update requests.  Maintain familiarity with all Company manuals, technical publications and manufacturer manuals and maintain them in an up to date condition through revisions.
  • Circulation Management: Complete, timely, and current distribution of Technical and Flight Operations manuals, publications, and corresponding revisions throughout the Company. 
  • Distribution Management: Distribution, collection, assembly, and replacement of all manuals and technical documents for Company Maintenance Operations and Airworthiness. Supports the Operations Department with timely publishing and distribution of documents (Manufacturer and Company Manuals, Jeppesen Revisions, etc.).
  • Prepares workflows and implements tools to simplify the production and distribution of content through digital means.
  • Inventory Control: Up-to-date inventory and control of technical manuals and publications.  Maintain and improves upon effective methods of inventory and control of operations manuals and publications.
  • Revision Control:  Maintains familiarity with all Company Technical Operations manuals, technical publications, provider/manufacturer manuals, and service bulletins, and maintain them in an up to date condition through revisions.
  • Technological Site Development and Management: Updates and assists in development of Digital Maintenance Library, LiNK, Comply365 and distribution of all change notifications throughout the Company and vendors. 
  • Maintain familiarity with the Airbus World Site, with a view towards improving efficiencies through the automated distribution of the OEM related technical publications, Service Bulletins, CMMs etc.
  • Manage and direct the ongoing development and evaluation of the library’s communications, including the web site, mobile sites, networking profiles, print publications, and digital signage.
  • Follow emerging technology trends and current user practices in order to anticipate the Technical Library users’ needs and preferences in a highly digital and mobile environment.
  • Contributes design, technical, and information architecture expertise in support of digital communications.
  • Document Procurement and Inventory Management: Ensures adequate technical documentation inventory is maintained and procured as needed to support the operational need.
  • Currency and Accuracy: Maintains the currency and accuracy of the Technical Library Master Set and ensures that Operations Control Center, Crew Bases, Vendors and Stations are current and in compliance.
  • Identifies and interprets metrics in order to evaluate digital communications and services.
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned. Responsibilities and duties may change when circumstances dictate. (e.g. emergencies change in workload, rush jobs or technical developments.)

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to work with Content Management Systems and Digital Mobility Platforms.

  • Ability to work with Microsoft Software: SharePoint, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook. The ability to work in Adobe Software products and knowledge of Technical Publications Revision Process and Desktop Publishing also a plus.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of ADOC, Comply 365 and Windchill

  • Knowledge of SGML and XML data.

  • Ability to write and communicate clearly; input address/shipping info and label creation without typographical error due to time sensitive duties.

  • Demonstrated understanding or experience with managing technical publications.

  • Demonstrated understanding of database management and cataloging skills.

  • Exceptional organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to produce content for digital communications and contribute to library reference services, especially those provided digitally.

  • Demonstrated knowledge providing reference, especially digital reference.

  • Demonstrated ability to gather and assess feedback and analytics data to evaluate new or existing communication strategies.

  • Domestic & International travel approximately 10 of time.

Basic Requirements - Physical, Mental and Environmental Job Requirements

  • Ability to work under pressure or near 100 accuracy while meeting inflexible deadlines.
  • Work independently while contributing to a team environment.
  • Lifting required: boxes, paper manuals, operating dolly.
  • Frequently stands, walks, sits, and uses eye/hand coordination, color definition.

Education/Experience Requirements - Required

  • Associate degree in Technical Communications, Library Sciences, or other Business discipline. 1-2 years’ experience in the field of information sciences, technical communications, and/or aviation.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience working with Part 121/145 Aircraft Operations.

Education/Experience Requirements - Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communications, Library Sciences, or other Business discipline, as well as 4 years’ experience in the field of information sciences, technical communications and/or aviation.
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience working with Part 121/145 Aircraft Operations.
