Job Description:

Will act as in-house inspector for all paint applications and preparation operations, monitoring each step of process to include but not limited to air worthiness and cosmetic criteria.

  • Inspect paint at all critical stages as defined in the procedure.
  • Ensure all process discrepancies written are completed and closed before moving to the next step.
  • Complete inspection check list from issues found in the field.
  • Ensure that paint process described by engineering definition is complied with.
  • Ensure the (MES) Manufacturing Execution System and Applicable checklists are current to the activity performed.
  • Communicate to Quality Assurance (QA) any deviation in process (documentation not followed, new process not validated, etc).
  • Validate paint thickness measurements by utilizing the equipment provided.
  • Perform paint thickness measurement for EMI on horizontal stabilizer and engine cowlings. This requires climbing the stairs on the tail stand and using the stop reel.
  • Performs visuals airworthiness inspection before A/C return to production Hangar.
  • Provide general support to resolve quality problems occurring in paint shop.
  • Maintain good team relationships by communication with paint team members.
  • Provide paint team members all quality documentation if needed.
  • Provide detailed daily reports on the aircraft quality status.
  • Propose new strategies to improve quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain a constant presence in the paint hangers observing the paint process in work.
Job Requirements:
  • High school education or equivalent.
  • 2 years of aircraft airframe nomenclature experience, to include at least 2 years of aircraft paint experience within the last 5 years.
  • Ability to read, write and understand technical information contained in aircraft maintenance manuals, vendor documentation and engineering documents, with the ability to use this information in case of issue
  • Strong knowledge in metric system.
  • Knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel programs and outlook calendar.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to assist paint shop.
  • Ability to manage and solve technical issues.
  • Must be able to walk up aircraft tails stands up to 20 feet in height, stand and kneel for extended period of time with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must not be abnormally allergic to paint, stripper, solvents, primers, paint and other paint related products that produce fumes or dust while using.
  • Able to wear a respirator and pass a pulmonary function test.
  • Pass vision testing, minimum 20/20 corrected, and with no limitations in color perception.
  • Able to use required Harness with Stop reel for walking on top of aircraft fuselage.
  • Able to perform necessary duties in an aerial lift.
