Job Summary:
Pilot provides overall program rotary-wing standardization oversight. Trains and qualifies rated and nonrated crewmembers in MI-17 aircraft under day, night, instrument and NVG conditions. Conducts academic and hands-on performance training and administers evaluations to ensure RCM and NRCM proficiency and standardization of training. Periodically evaluates the performance and effectiveness of rotary wing flight operations, including participating in actual operational missions from down range locations.
Principal Accountabilities:
Responsible for the overall aviation standardization program in country; specifically, provides oversight of the rotary wing and fixed wing standardization program. Trains and qualifies crewmembers for day, night, instrument and Night Vision Goggle (NVG) operations in their assigned aircraft. Conducts academic and hands on training and administers evaluations to ensure aircrew proficiency and standardization of training. Administers the country Aircrew Training Program for the Country Manager and ensures that all training adheres to INL/A Operations Directives (OD) and Country SOP’s and is documented IAW the INL/A Guide to Aviation Training and Standardization (GATS). Periodically evaluates the performance of flight operations, including participation in operational missions. Is the one person point of contact for all standardization issues in his country of employment.

Management Responsibility:
No direct reports. Will have primary responsibility for rotary-wing operational matters related to RARE deployments.
Physical Requirements:
Random drug testing required.
Works in a normal office environment with controlled temperature and lighting conditions. May be exposed to extreme noise from turbine and jet engine aircraft. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles; may be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts and vehicles. May be exposed to a wide variety of operational circumstances, including extreme weather conditions and rudimentary infrastructure.
Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for up to five (5) hours per day and sit for up to four (4) hours per day. Must possess physical dexterity and coordination to qualify for Federal Aviation Administration Commercial Pilot Certificate. Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depth. Must be able to climb stairs. Must be able to read and interpret newspaper and typewritten print, maps, aeronautical charts, and weather charts. Must be able to grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders. Must be able to see aircraft in flight, read dials/gauges, identify small objects and hand tools. Must meet or exceed Federal Aviation Administration minimum visual acuity and hearing standards for Class II medical certificate. Must be physically capable of climbing vertical ladders or built-in aircraft steps to heights of 10-12 feet. May be exposed to chemical mist, gas, vapors, ultra-violet and infrared radiation. May be required to lift up to 50 pounds to a height of four (4) feet and be required to lift up to 20 pounds to a height of seven (7) feet. May be exposed to certain obstructions on the surface as well as ladders, stairs, etc. May be exposed to rapid or extreme temperature changes. May be required to meet Night Vision Goggle Vision Requirements: 20/100 near and FAR sight correctable to 20/20, be able to focus Night Vision Goggle at minimum distance of 20 feet.
Experience:
Branch 15 Aviation MOS series or other military/ commercial equivalent (153B preferred); qualification in assigned aircraft before or incident to assignment.
Education:
FAA Commercial and Instrument Airman’s Certificates Rotorcraft Helicopter; CFI/CFII or prior military equivalent; current FAA Class II Medical Certificate.
