Job Desc: L-3 Communications Integrated Systems, a recognized leader in aircraft modification and special mission system integration, offers challenging and rewarding assignments across a broad spectrum of aircraft modification programs. L-3 Integrated Systems has over fifty years of experience providing innovative solutions for major structural modifications to military and commercial aircraft. L-3 Integrated Systems has successfully modified over 15,000 aircraft comprised of more than 125 unique aircraft types. Job Description: Performs a wide variety of mechanical / structural removal, installation, repair and modification on aircraft. Interprets and follows engineering drawings and checks work correctness. Checks, tests and troubleshoots systems for conformance to specifications. Resolves installation problems. Performs aircraft modifications IAW military T.O.‘s, commercial maintenance manuals, and service bulletins. Performs other related tasks as required.
Requirements: Basic Qualifications: A minimum of 4 years experience as a sheet metal mechanic in the aircraft industry, with H/S or GED. Must have experience with basic hand tools and have knowledge of mechanical skills. Requires the ability to read, interpret and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, T.O. specs and engineering specifications. Ability to assemble close tolerance parts and use hand tools such as pneumatic drills and rivet gun. Must have approved safety shoes. Must have own tools. If hired, tools must be shadowed. L-3/IS will provide the material to complete this task. May be required to be certified to operate self-propelled vehicles such as forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts and aircraft tow vehicles. Must be eligible to work any shift and overtime as required. May be required to obtain security clearance. Describe the physical requirement of the job (e.g. Bending, lifting, overhead work): Must be able to climb ladders, stairs and portable stands and navigate these without assistance. Must be able to work at heights 70 feet above the ground. Must be able to work in extreme heat/cold. Must be able to work in the following environmental conditions: noise, vibration, proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, chemicals, odors, dust. Must be able to bend, reach, stoop, balance, push, pull, kneel, grasp, crouch, crawl, work in narrow aisles/passageways, and work in close spaces that restrict movement including aircraft fuel tanks for extended periods of time. Must be able to stand for sustained periods of time. Must be able to work primarily with fingers such as picking, pinching, typing. Must have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes. Must be capable of routinely performing industry standard ambidextriosities required to complete tasks. Must be able to lift/maneuver up to 50 pounds. Must have own tools.
