Position Purpose: The Sheetmetal Technician works independently with minimal direction to fabricate and install supportive structures, enclosures, and antennas in support of the Avionics Installation Shop. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: The Sheetmetal Tech works independently with minimal Manager or Lead input to fabricate and/or install radio racks, junction boxes, and supportive structures for avionics devices, wiring, and antennas. The Technician modifies existing structures such as pedestals, side consoles, instrument panels, radio racks, junction boxes and external aircraft surfaces to allow installation of new equipment. An experienced Tech may be assigned to act as a Lead on a project. The Sheetmetal Tech uses knowledge and judgment to assess the condition of the aircraft with regard to the intended installations, then coordinates with Senior Sheetmetal Technicians, Leads, Structural Engineering and the Inspection department as required to solve problems, produce approved data, and proceed with the job. Operating Skills, Knowledge, and AbilitiesMinimum Training & Education Requirements: This position typically requires a high school diploma (or equivalent). A strong familiarity with avionics systems‘ structural requirements is necessary. Essential communication skills include the ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language, and listening and computer keyboard skills. Essential personal skills include organization, creativity, problem solving ability, mechanical aptitude, a professional attitude, and the ability to work with people and to meet demanding schedules. Blueprint reading and basic math skills are required.Minimum Experience Requirements: A minimum of 3-5 years experience in directly related aircraft sheetmetal work is required.1.) Minimum Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D. You must be able to provide to our office within a 48 hour time frame.2.) Criminal Background Check: If you have any Felony Convictions or violence-related misdemeanors within the past 7 years, you will be disqualified from employment at this location. |
