General: The Metrologists are experts in their field and report to/support the Laboratory Manager by providing professional calibration and repair services. The Metrologists will act as Quality Assurance Representative/Collateral Duty Inspector as required. The Metrologists will be required to operate both government furnished and contractor furnished vehicles (with proper licenses) for the purpose of performing required tasks. This position is subject to temporary assignment to other sites. Specific Conducts training for metrology calibration proficiency of assigned equipment. Coordinates with technical experts and calibration personnel to resolve technical problems as required for new measurement techniques. Provides repair, calibration, and modification of the wide variety of complex precision measurement equipment utilized by the Navy & Marine activities, and other duties as assigned.

Shall have a working knowledge of the basic concepts of electronics and physical mechanical disciplines. This knowledge shall include basic electricity, electronics, circuit theory, digital logic, algebra, and physics/physical mechanical disciplines,Shall have successfully completed a military precision measurement and calibration program or equivalent training from an accredited school.Shall have six (6) years (2 years if task is designated primarily Physical Measurements) experience operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing and calibrating electronic Inspection, Measuring and Test Equipment (IM&TE) such as analog and digital multimeters, electronic counters, pulse/function/signal generators, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, time, frequency, modulation, waveguide and coaxial directional couplers, RF power meters, VSWR Indicators, slotted lines, attenuation, directivity, power, phase, pulse code modulation, noise, sensitivity. gain voltage, current. power, resistance, capacitance, inductance AC/DC ammeters, wattmeters and TACAN test sets.Shall have six (6) years (3 years if task is designated primarily Electronic Measurements) experience operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating equipment such as length, parallelism, flatness, gaseous/liquid flow, viscosity, pressure, vacuum, temperature, torque. angle, vibration, humidity, Weight, force and tension, pressure/vacuum gages, tensiometers, thermometers, humidigraphs, flowmeters, optical flats, gauge blocks torque wrenches, inclinometers, scales, balances, transducers and accelerometers. Gages/instruments which measure depth, force, height, pressure, vacuum radius, thickness, hydrometers, hygrometers, dial indicators, levels, load cells, manometers proving rings, scales, thermocouples, thermometers, torque devices, transducers which measure force, pressure and calibration laboratory measurement standards/other general purpose measuring equipment.Shall have demonstrated experience in troubleshooting measurement standards by making measurements with test equipment to identify problems to the component level and demonstrated basic electronic construction and repair skills including soldering and wiring to include the ability to perform these functions on delicate circuit cards. (This paragraph not applicable if task is designated primarily Physical Measurements) Shall have experience analyzing engineering drawings (such as schematics, logic diagrams, block diagrams, wiring diagrams, interconnecting drawings, and blue prints)Must be able to successfully obtain a secret clearance and pass a drug test and a background investigation.
