Job Summary:
The Dyn Intl CNGS Crew Chief Flight Instructor will train and evaluate nonrated crewmembers in the MI-17 aircraft under day, night, instrument, and NVG conditions. Conduct academic classes covering but not limited to; aircraft systems, basic flight requirements, weapon systems and gunnery, and required publications as directed. Crew Chief Flight Instructors will be required and scheduled to perform as a mission crew chief during CNGS missions, at the discretion of the Crew Chief Standardization Instructor or their designee.
Principal Accountabilities:
Responsible to train both US and Afghan nonrated crewmembers in all flight and ground tasks assigned by the Chief Pilot and in accordance with the Contract, Government and DI-CNGS policies. Train and qualify contractor, government and Afghan crewmembers for day, night, and Night Vision Goggle (NVG) operations in their assigned aircraft. Conduct classroom and podium instruction on aircraft systems, weapon systems, and door gunnery as delegated by the Chief Pilot or designee. Train/execute all assigned operational missions with either/both US and Afghan crewmembers, IAW with the contract, AR 95-20, Service Guidance and the approved Flight Operations Procedures.

Knowledge & Skills:
Has the ability to interpret and use all applicable technical data for the aircraft. Knowledge of and ability to apply effective instructional technique in the classroom and in flight. Possess knowledge of use of training aids and devices and use of audio-visual training aids. Strong communication skills with the ability to lead, coach, and instruct others. Excellent decision making ability and judgment with ability to respond quickly. Knowledge of proper safety and security procedures. Must possess or able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance. Must possess or able to obtain a passport.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to travel domestically and internationally. Works in a normal office environment with controlled temperature and lighting conditions. May be exposed to extreme noise from turbine and jet engine aircraft. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts and vehicles. May be exposed to a wide variety of operational circumstances, including extreme weather conditions and rudimentary infrastructure. Random drug testing required. Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for up to five (5) hours per day and sit for up to four (4) hours per day. Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depth. Must be able to climb stairs. Must be able to read and interpret newspaper and typewritten print, maps, aeronautical charts, and weather charts. Must be able to grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders. Must be able to see aircraft in flight, read dials/gauges, identify small objects and hand tools. Must meet or exceed Federal Aviation Administration minimum visual acuity and hearing standards for Class III medical certificate. Must be physically capable of climbing vertical ladders or built-in aircraft steps to heights of 10 -12 feet. May be exposed to chemical mist, gas, vapors, ultra-violet and infrared radiation. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds to a height of four (4) feet and lift up to 20 pounds to a height of seven (7) feet. May be exposed to certain obstructions on the surface as well as ladders, stairs, etc. May be exposed to rapid or extreme temperature changes. May be required to meet Night Vision Goggle vision requirements: 20/100 near and Far sight correctable to 20/20, be able to focus Night Vision Goggle at minimum distance of 20 feet.

Minimum of 500 hours performing crew chief duties on utility helicopters during lift and assault missions. Require Utility/Cargo helicopter experience; UH-1, UH-60, CH-47 Must have FAA A&P license Prefer U.S. military Flight Instructor or Unit Trainer experience Prefer prior U.S. Army or U.S. Marine Corps service Prefer prior Helicopter Door Gunnery training using crew served weapons such as: M60, M240, or M134 systems. Must be able to provide Flight Records and DA 759 form or equivalent Active Secret Clearance highly preferred
