Job Description
Summary
The Director of Sales is responsible for the sales organization of a specific sales region or key account customer.
The Director of Sales establishes and maintains liaison with Air Carriers, Cargo Freight Forwarders, Shippers and other clientele in order to solicit air cargo business and revenue. He/She coordinates charter requests from initial inquiry through final disposition. The Director of Sales coordinates all aspects of charter flight with appropriate departments and client. He/She researches and analyses company’s and competitor’s international activities and profitability. The Director of Sales keeps abreast of current airline industry trends through review of industry and related periodicals. He/She prepares statistical reports and spreadsheets on payload, on-time performance and other factors. The Director of Sales identifies and reconciles discrepancies between reports.
The Director of Sales is a team player, although reporting to one specific Sales VP and region, the Director of Sales shares knowledge and helps ease workload amongst his colleagues and the sales organization as a whole.
Specific Duties
· Establish, maintain and upgrade customer contacts and file them in the Evergreen database · Liaise with VP on all customer interactions · Receive, register and answer RFQs according to the established process, follow up on quotations · Use customer contacts to proactively search for demand and specific customer requirements · Support VP in all sales strategies and initiatives · Travel to meet customers as required by VP · Develop future markets by reading and researching industry information, periodicals and other resources · Prepare and present (as directed) monthly, quarterly and annual sales data and projects · Support sales organization in specific customer events
Requirements
· BA or BS with a major in marketing/business · Experienced in Freight forwarding · Self motivation, be an achiever · Superb telephone and writing skills · Intercultural awareness, tolerance and flexibility · Endurance and patience for closing contracts · Available for overtime as required for the sales process in a global airline · Fluent in business English, and preferably at least one other language
