SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Under minimum supervision working with considerable knowledge and extensive experience, performs diversified sheet-metal repairs and modifications using structural repair manual, blueprints and job specifications. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 1. Performs a wide variety of complicated maintenance sheet-metal repairs, modification and installation operations which include all of the following: cutting, filing, drilling, countersinking, fitting, shimming, aligning, adjusting, clamping, bolting, reaming, sealing, riveting and bucking to repair and modify primary sections of aircraft structures.2. Ability to perform on site fabrication of repair parts using various power assisted machines such as shear, brake, drill press. 3. Ability to set up and use all pneumatic huck, squeeze and standard rivet guns, shavers and drill motors. 4. Use all mechanic’s hand tools and measuring instruments such as: calipers, scales, micrometers. 5. Must be familiar with drill taps and various drill sizes. 6. Daily attendance is an essential part of this position. EDUCATION & TRAINING: Ability to read, write, perform simple math, read blueprints and measuring instruments. Must have a working knowledge of metal types and gauges, rivet types, sizes and composition and knowledge of other related hardware. EXPERIENCE, SKILL, AND KNOWLEDGE:
Minimum of three (3) years of directly related aircraft structures experience. Airframe and powerplant license is preferred but not required.
Normal MRO somewhat disagreeable working conditions, stemming from ongoing maintenance operations.Exposed to typical MRO conditions such as: engine noise, riveting, dust and chemical fumes, none of which are to the extent of being intolerable. Hearing, vision and breathing protection provided in appropriate areas.Working areas naturally ventilated and mechanically heated when required.Work may be performed while exposed to elements of weather.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Requires lifting of items weighing up to sixty (60) pounds on an occasional basis.Requires physical effort associated with standing / walking / sitting.Requires the ability to twist, bend, squat, climb and / or other body movements to successfully accomplish the requirements of the position.Requires kneeling on occasion, in performance of job duties.Requires the use of either or both hands for grasping items, manual dexterity is required, and the ability to push / pull; i.e., open / close aircraft doors and / or handle machinery.Requires the ability to reach above shoulder height in accomplishing job tasks.Requires the ability to walk on uneven surfaces.Requires the use of either foot or both for operation of foot controls of machinery
