ARINC’s Industry Activities Division in Annapolis, MD is recruiting a Network and Security Project Engineer to support the activities of the Airlines Electronic Engineering Committee (AEEC) - a recognized leader in international standards development.
ARINC’s Industry Activities organizes air transport industry activities that lead to the development and publication of ARINC Standards. This includes technical solutions and standards that no one independent organization could accomplish on its own. The resulting standards and solutions improve cost effectiveness, increase productivity, and reduce life cycle costs. Value is created for the airlines; aircraft and flight simulator manufacturers; avionics suppliers; and aviation maintenance, training, and communication service providers.
ARINC Industry Activities Organized Conferences and Committees include:
AEEC (est. 1949) Airlines Electronic Engineering Committee conducts technical investigations and evaluations to develop airline driven standards for avionics throughout the aircraft. Members include airlines from the U.S., Europe, Asia, and Business Aviation.
AMC (est 1949) Avionics Maintenance Conference promotes reliability and reduced operating costs in avionics by improving maintenance through cooperation. Conducts annual Avionics Maintenance Conference with over 700 attending, more than 65 airlines and nearly 200 other organizations.
FSEMC- (est 1994) Flight Simulator Engineering & Maintenance Conference provides real, immediate, cost-effective solutions to simulator operational and maintenance issues, creates simulation standards that increase simulator readiness and reduce operational cost and increases emphasis on integrated systems, software and product support, data packages, and intellectual property considerations.
The Network and Security Project Engineer will be responsible for the following tasks: - Preparing technical material for introduction into ARINC Standards. - Working closely with subject matter experts in industry, supporting the overall effort to define new aircraft requirements, new airspace requirements and the associated development of international standards for aircraft, software applications, network and cyber-security, and electronics fitted on commercial air transport aircraft. - Providing project support involving regular interaction with industry, preparing project status reports, both to peers in industry and to management. - Preparing technical writing pieces with captivating presentation skills and a high degree of diplomacy. Required Experience: - Eight or more years of system design/development experience and software with specific concentration in aviation or aerospace. - Three or more years of network, cyber-security, system design/development experience and software with specific concentration in aviation or aerospace. - Two or more years familiarity and/or working experience with aircraft avionics systems. - Excellent technical writing skills, oral communication skills, and strong customer interaction skills. - Familiarity and/or working experience with software-based applications, embedded and real-time operating systems, data structures, and open architectures.
Education/Certification Requirements: - Typically requires a Master’s degree in a technical area. - Bachelor’s of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Computer Science (BSCS) or similar four-year degree with equivalent work experience will be considered.
Desired Experience: - Familiarity and/or working experience with Information Technology, software-based applications, network infrastructure, wireless technology, embedded and real-time operating systems, mobile IP, broadband techniques data structures, associated system security and open architectures.
Also as a Project Engineer with Industry Activities working experience and knowledge in 4 or more of these areas is highly desired: - Air-Ground Communications - Cockpit Displays - Data Link Systems - Flight Recorders - Electronic Flight Bag - Flight Control Systems - Global Navigation Satellite System - Avionics System Architecture/Networking - Avionics Maintenance - Avionics System Software - Flight Simulators
