Job Desc:
SUMMARY:
 
Under supervision of the Chief Inspector and/or Manager of Quality Control, the Inspector oversees work performance to ensure standard shop practices and FAA approved technical data are used to complete customer work orders. Work hours are 7:00 am - 4:00 pm, five days a week.  

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Performs inspection on all incoming purchase orders and incoming/outgoing repair orders related to aircraft components and materials
  • Assesses airworthiness and conformance to standards by using checklists, hand tools and test instruments
  • Performs preliminary, hidden damage, in-process and final inspections on all parts and components undergoing general inspection, repair or overhaul
  • Monitors and ensures all tasks, processes and data references are properly documented during and upon completion of repair or overhaul work
  • Ensures that all serviceable and unserviceable parts are properly identified and segregated
  • Performs proper documentation of incoming shelf life items
  • Prepares and completes final work order and teardown reports
  • Prepares non-routine reports, certification records and reports. Verifies that proper documentation is prepared related to certification of aircraft components
  • Provides accurate and timely communication to chief inspector, manager of quality control and/or production manager regarding work order priorities

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepares quality improvement reports, scrap reports and rejection reports as needed
  • Recommends changes in rules, policies, standards, and regulations, based on knowledge of operating conditions, aircraft components and other factors
  • Provides feedback to trainer and safety officer regarding employee on-the-job training and recommended recurrent training
  • Makes recommendations to management on ways to improve the quality of work performed and related inspections processes
  • Demonstrates initiative and willingness to perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
EDUCATION/ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent combination of experience and training which qualifies the employee to perform the essential job duties of the position
  • Valid FAA A&P license required
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license required
  • Three to five years work experience with one year inspector experience in the aviation industry, or repair facility preferred

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to compile and analyze data and to prepare a variety of reports
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and customers
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information gained in the course and scope of job
  • Ability to work some irregular hours
  • Must be able to read, write and understand the English language
  • Possess knowledge of laws and government regulations pertaining to the aviation industry
  • Possess a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Possess exceptional decision making and problem solving skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, and sit. The employee is regularly required to speak and hear. The employee is regularly required to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds (with assistance). The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, crawl and twist. The employee is regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, reach, handle and grasp. Specific vision abilities required for this position include close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision, and the ability to determine depth perception and adjust focus.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:


Work is generally performed in a normal shop environment and the employee will regularly be exposed to those conditions found in a shop environment such as dust, noise, fumes, chemicals, etc. The noise level in the work environment is usually high.
