The weight and balance engineer reports to the manager of the structures engineering department. The weight and balance engineer develops current and forecast weight, balance and mass properties data; participates in defining weight, balance and mass properties related design requirements; participates in developing customer specification commitments; provides routine guidance on weight related issues to manufacturing and engineering; coordinates and collaborates with subcontracted services and vendors of various systems; supports individual design team weight control efforts; estimates, calculates, measures, and verifies weight of components, assemblies, and aircraft; participates in developing and maintaining weight and balance properties accounting systems; generates weight and balance reports; participates in developing and implementing new processes and tools.
Generates and coordinates bids and proposals for Supplemental Weight and Balance Reports and services.
· Generates and reviews aviation authority approvable Supplemental Weight and Balance Reports.
· Generates, administers, and manages weight control plans on multiple aircraft projects
· Submits and reviews weight and balance estimates for aircraft modifications and full interior projects.
· Interfaces with structural, mechanical systems, interior, avionics, electrical design, and subcontractor engineers to ensure weight and balance objectives are being met and generates the associated substantiating documentation, analysis and/or testing required.
· Supports weight and balance needs related to the maintenance business enterprise for 14 CFR Part 23 executive aircraft under our Part 145 delegation.
