Position Summary
The Technical Manager/Director participates in the delivery and return of commercial jet aircraft to numerous airlines throughout the world. The Manager/Director works and travels together with a team of ILFC professionals to negotiate aircraft lease & sales agreements, manage projects independently, resolve technical issues that surface during the aircraft lease term, coordinates and oversees customer pre-delivery reconfiguration requirements while developing and enhancing relationships with airlines, MRO’s and suppliers internationally.
Responsibilities:
Transaction Support:
· Evaluate return condition provisions for Leases and provide legal department with side letter and amendment language to draft delivery conditions for next Lessees.
· Negotiate and review return conditions or reserve rates in the context of lease extensions
· Negotiate Reserve amounts, use of Reserves, Maintenance and return condition provisions of leases with lessees
· Provide vital technical subject matter input for the development of LOIs and evaluate the LOI for any conflicts relating to aircraft configuration, capabilities or regulatory requirements which may cause added financial exposure to ILFC
· Evaluate the signed LOI to determine what modifications to the aircraft may be required to meet our commercial obligations in the LOI through project management and modification execution.
· Assist Marketing executives by providing Marketing Specification Sheets, advice on regulatory requirements, current aircraft status, anticipate aircraft status at time of delivery
· Coordinate all activities with next customer for their visit to the aircraft. Ensure such activity takes place during a scheduled down-time to ensure we do not violate our Quiet Enjoyment provision of the lease
· In a professional manner, provide answers to lessee’s related to the Technical provisions of the lease, including Reserve justification, buy out formulas and anything else they request
· Review aircraft and documentation status to determine compliance with our lease provisions
Return/Delivery Process:
· Review major repairs on aircraft to determine acceptability for ILFC and to ensure residual value of aircraft is not diminished
· Manage the entire return process of aircraft from lessees
· Manage the entire delivery process of aircraft to lessees
· Prepare and coordinate six months prior to a return, the pre-return coordination meetings with current lessee. Strive to ensure that lessee will be prepared to perform a smooth, on time return
· Negotiate MRO agreements
· Review and approve technical specifications for our used aircraft
· Continuously provide input for modifying the existing vanilla lease to ensure that all the technical provisions are up to date and are meeting current industry trends
· Effectively and efficiently manage the use of the technical consultants who are working on different projects
· Work with regulatory authorities, ferry crews and obtain permits
· Work directly with executive management of Lessees and MROs
· Manage multiple consultants
· Acquire material
· Analyze, negotiate and settle complex and costly compensation issues with Lessees and MROs
Miscellaneous:
· Provide input to SVP related to any technical issues or concerns during purchase agreement negotiations with manufacturers
· Advise Marketing, Legal and Contracts departments on a multitude of technical issues related to purchase, sale, and/or transfer of aircraft
· Take necessary steps to order engineering, components, kits required to retrofit the aircraft as needed, while ensuring that the services and equipment provided is done so with the least amount of financial exposure to ILFC and to have an on-time to delivery to the customer
· Review reports for damaged aircraft to enforce provisions of the lease agreement and ensure residual value of the aircraft is not negatively affected
· Review and approve Technical specification information provided by Lessee’s to our department for use as a re-marketing specification sheet
· Field questions from all departments regarding technical issues and aircraft schedules
· Evaluate aircraft incidents, accidents and unscheduled damage. Both distributing information on incidents throughout the company and assessing the impact on ILFC of proposed repair schemes (to include signing the insurance company release where needed).
