Job Desc:  Summary: The Live-Virtual-Constructive (LVC) Expert will be responsible for operating, maintaining, integrating, upgrading and managing the LVC and Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) environment at RAF Lakenheath, Spangdahlem Air Base, and Aviano Air Base. The LVC Expert will have over eight years experience with common DoD training environments, federations and instrumentation, including DMO, LVC, Battlefield Operations Support System (BOSS), Advanced Simulation Technology inc (ASTi) radios, simulators and networks, USAFE Rangeless Interim Training System (URITS), P-5 pod, and Air, Space and Cyber Constructive Environment (ASCCE) as well as the establishment, integration and operation of distributed training networks. The LVC expert also will have demonstrated knowledge of Link 16 and Situational Awareness Data Link (SADL) capabilities. This Expert will work with organizations and personnel as directed to support A-10, F-16 and F-15E simulator training,   Air Force and joint exercises, training, experiments and other operations within US Air Force Europe. 

 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities  Operate and maintain DMO/LVC hardware and software components and associated trainers in conjunction with the development agents for each component. Coordinate with the supported customer base to schedule events, conduct planning, identify requirements, procure requisite data and other resources, conduct hardware and software integration, train personnel augmentees and execute support operations as required.  Develop and maintain expertise in existing and emerging customer tactics, techniques and procedures, and make recommendations to simulations and simulator developmental agents for software and hardware corrections and upgrades. Coordinate with Air Force activities, as required, to maintain Information Security and Information Assurance accreditations, configurations and compliance.

Requirements:  Qualifications: Strong communications (oral and written) and interpersonal skills to work with military and civilian representatives of DoD activities both non technical staff and technical designers and developers. Extensive background in joint military operations and the associated tactics, techniques and procedures for joint strike, joint close air support, joint unmanned aircraft systems, and It is strongly desired that candidates also meet many of the following criteria:
  • Proficient with Windows-based software systems, specifically Microsoft XP operating system.
  • Experienced in the management, operations and maintenance of computer hardware and software.
  • Knowledgeable of Information Security and Information Assurance.
  • General knowledge and experience with network configuration and maintenance.
  • Spreadsheets (MS Excel) – excellent skills
  • Word processing (MS Word) – excellent skills  
  • Database software applications (MS Access, SQL or better) – as needed

 


Education and/or Training:                          


College Degree BA or BS with a minimum of a Major in an Engineering field required.


Eight years of applied experience with a high school diploma can be substituted for a college degree


Applied experience in either modeling and simulation, computers or military operations acceptable.


Military operational experience in joint fires, close air support and unmanned aircraft systems required.


Experience in military tactical range operations desired.


Analytical Skills:


1.      Synthesize complex or diverse information


2.      Collect and research data; utilize experience to complement data.
