TASK REQUIREMENT:
1. Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and servicing of the egress, environmental and related systems of the F/A-18 aircraft. This includes the Navy Aircrew Common Ejection Seat (NACES) and escape system, canopy operating system; bleed air system, air conditioning systems, On-Board Oxygen Generating System (OBOGS), Radio Detection and Ranging liquid cooling system, and fire extinguishing system.
2. Complete all source documents, applicable records and reports.
3. Provide support to the maintenance-training program.
4. Troubleshooters are responsible for providing a rapid means of troubleshooting and repairing discrepancies, which occur or are discovered on the flight line. The troubleshooter will act as technical advisors to KAF plane captains to ensure timely completion of turnaround and daily inspections and to determine the extent and depth of flight line discrepancies.
5. Troubleshooters must be knowledgeable in flight line operations, flight line safety, and the applicable aircraft systems.
6. Troubleshooters may be utilized in the applicable work center at the request of the KAF O-Level Maintenance Management.
7. Support on-the-job training and cross training of KAF personnel.
TASK PREREQUISITES:
1. Have completed an F/A-18 Fleet Replaceable Aviation Maintenance Program Automated Maintenance Environment Course or equivalent. If equivalent training is claimed, applicant must submit copies of course descriptions to Commander, Naval Air Systems Command (PMA265-12) for evaluation.
2. Have a minimum of four years experience on F/A-18 aircraft.
3. Have a minimum of one year F/A-18 Plane Captain experience.
4. The following experience is required:
a. OBOGS experience, which includes testing and troubleshooting.
b. NACES experience, including periodic inspection.
5. Proficient with Visual Information Display System (VIDS)/Maintenance Action Form (MAF) documentation and the proper procedures for completing VIDS/MAFS in accordance with COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 Series 6. No security clearance is required.
