JOB TITLE: Aviation Maintenance Technician Helicopter (2778)


SALARY: Grade 16 (Standard Salary Schedule)


NATURE OF WORK:

An Aviation Maintenance Technician Helicopter is the full-performance level of technical work engaged in the maintenance of turbine powered aircraft according to Federal Aviation Administration regulations and manufacturers’ specifications and is normally required to maintain proper agency or unit forms and records pertaining to the aircraft. Employees in this classification do not supervise.

Employees receive general supervision from an Aviation Technician Inspector Supervisor or other designated higher-level administrator. Employees are assigned shift work including holidays and weekends and are subject to 24-hour on call duty during emergencies and staff shortages. The work is performed at either a central maintenance repair facility or at remote locations. The work may require lifting components or equipment weighing 50 lbs. or more. Employees may perform the work outdoors under a variety of weather conditions. 

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:,


Education: Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.


Experience: Two years of experience in the maintenance of turbine powered aircraft.


Note: Graduation from a Federal Aviation Administration’s Part 147 Aviation Maintenance Technician School may be substituted for the required experience.


LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATES:

Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a valid Federal Aviation Administration Airframe and Power Plant Mechanic certficate. The certficate number and date of issue must be listed on the application.

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

Competitive promotions to Aviation Maintenance Technician Helicopter Lead (Grade 17); Aviation Technician Inspector Supervisor (Grade 18), Aviation Maintenance Quality Assurance Inspector (Grade 18), Aviation Mechanic Chief Inspector (Grade 19).
