Job Title: Aircraft Servicer Department: Transient Aircraft Services – RAF Lakenheath/RAF Mildenhall FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Summary Responsible for aircraft ground handling [follow-me, marshalling, and towing], servicing (fuels, oils, liquid/gaseous oxygen, and compressed air/nitrogen), minor maintenance, part procurement, aircraft deicing and logistical support. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: [other duties may be assigned] Direct incoming and outgoing aircraft near terminal area to assist pilot’s maneuvering of the aircraft on ground using hand / light signals or drives light truck with guiding sign; Secures aircraft in parking position with chocks; Operates service vehicle(s); Replenish fuel, oil, water, waste system chemicals, oxygen, hydraulic fluid, and remove waste; Checks for fuel contamination by draining sumps and fuels drains; Operate ground support equipment [GSE] / aerospace ground equipment [AGE] such as aircraft tow vehicles, external power sources, engine start carts, and LOX/GOX carts; Examine tires for condition and specified air pressure; Remove and replace defective tires; Position and remove boarding platforms to unload or load aircraft passengers; Unload and load luggage, mail, freight, and other cargo, using tow truck with luggage cart; Clean exterior or interior of aircraft using portable platform ladders, brushes, rags, water hose and vacuum; Deice aircraft using approved methods and mixture; May load or unload containers of food, beverages, and dishes for in-flight meal service; May trace lost customer luggage and prepare lost baggage claims; May install / retrieve drag chutes and send them to parachute shop for repacking. | Requirements: | To perform this job successfully, the employee must be able to: install basic equipment; determine what kind of tools and equipment are needed to do a job; repair machines or systems using the needed tools; identify the nature of problems; troubleshoot what is causing an operating error and decide what to do about it; perform routine maintenance and servicing of aircraft and determine what kind of maintenance is needed; and inspect and evaluate the quality of products. |
