Job Description Summary : POSITION SUMMARY: 

Incumbent is responsible for overall technical oversight of inertial system / sensor / subsystem / package design and development through qualification activities including extensive customer and off-site major subcontractors interface. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 
„X Development of inertial system / spinning mass sensor / subsystem / package specifications for platform and / or space package applications based on customer specifications, industry, DoD and internally derived requirements. 
„X Development of interface definition between sensor / package and subsystems and where applicable evaluate and resolve interface problems between subsystems / sensors / platforms and systems 
„X Establishment and maintenance of systems design configuration through all phases of the program. 
„X Preparation and / or approval of specifications; design compliance documents, qualification test plans / reports, integration test plans / procedures for sensor / package sub-components / components and systems. 
„X Development and / or approval of system Worse Case Analyses (EVA, RSS, and /or Monte Carlo) including instrument / subassembly / component error budget / modeling / analysis to ensure compliance in accordance with applicable contract requirements. 
„X Coordination of hardware “make versus buy” design development trade-off analyses and will support / oversee supplier trade-off analysis. 
„X Development of sensors testing / package systems integration / systems qualification and ATP testing. 
„X Support to / for sensor / package / platform integration testing as required per contract. 
„X Technical oversight of Reliability / Maintainability engineering in developing Probability of Success (Ps), Failure Mode Effects Analyses (FMEAs) including executing a Failure Reporting Analysis and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) in accordance with contract requirements. 
„X Conduct internal and external design reviews including oversight of all sensor / package deliverables per program schedule while monitoring project budget. 
„X Development / integration of new technologies and processes into current designs including supporting R&D activities / prototype development of sensor / package components / subsystems where applicable

Requirements:
Education – 

Masters degree preferred with a few years of work experience – willing to train 
Hiring Manager has a high focus on education 
Inertial guidance experience preferred, not required 
Must be local OR a reason/desire to move to OH - If not local, must have availability and means to interview in-person (travel expenses will not be covered) 

 

Required Experience: 
„X Minimum 5 years of (aerospace / defense) experience in inertial guidance systems and subsystems and components design, testing and qualification (space market experience is highly desirable). 
„X Experience with typical inertial systems electrical / electro-mechanical sensors / packages / servo control systems. 

Required Skills: 
• Experience with modeling control systems in MATLAB/Simulink, as well as knowledge of IMU and INS systems 
• Inertial systems and inertial sensors analysis, design, modeling, evaluation, integration and test. 
• Development of systems / subsystems / sensors technical requirements and specifications. 
• History of successful complex product design / qualification activities (space market experience preferable). 
• Strong written & verbal communication and presentation skills. 
• Strong PC Skills and proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project). 
• Demonstrated ability to perform required skills and essential functions based on past performance. 
• Skills and desire to drive / lead projects. 
• Willing to travel to testing labs, customer’s and supplier’s facilities. 
• Capable to work simultaneously on multiple assignments. 
• Experience working within a team oriented organization. 

Physical Requirements: 
• Frequent computer use 
• Some lifting and moving of equipment 

Environmental Conditions: 
• Exposure to electrical, chemical, and mechanical safety hazards

• US Citizen required 
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a clearance
