Knowledgeable and able to assemble aircraft structures by drilling, filing, filling, reaming, countersinking, burring and fastening using various hand tools as well as electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment. Knowledgeable and skilled in basic sheet metal, riveting, assembly methods and common shop practices. Knowledgeable and able to inspect assemblies, component parts, and airframe structures for nonconformance. Report discrepancies to manufacturing self-examination (MSE), corrective action (C/A), or manufacturing supervision. Knowledgeable and able to interpret and work from blueprints, sketches and written and verbal instructions. Knowledgeable and able to use computer systems for office and shop applications.
Prior to receiving and offer, a qualified candidate must be able to apply and demonstrate the ability in the following areas through successful completion of the Sheet Metal and Riveter Assessment: Blueprint reading Cold form sheet metal Geometrical tolerance Flat pattern layout Countersinking Shearing Radius Fastening (both solid fasteners and mechanical) Basic use of hand tools Basic use of machine shop tools Attention to detail
