Job Description: Performs a wide variety of complex mechanical/structural removal, installation, repair and modification on aircraft. Interprets and follows engineering drawings and checks work correctness. Checks, tests and troubleshoots systems for conformance to specifications. Resolves installation problems. Performs aircraft modifications per IAW military T.O.’s, commercial maintenance manuals, and service bulletins. Performs other related tasks as required.

Basic Qualifications: Aircraft related Assoc degree or A&P license + 8 years experience as a sheet metal mechanic in the aircraft industry. Must have experience with basic hand tools and have knowledge of mechanical skills. Requires the ability to read, interpret and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, T.O. specs and engineering specifications. Ability to assemble close tolerance parts and use hand tools such as pneumatic drills and rivet gun. Must have own tools. If hired, tools must be shadowed. L-3/IS will provide the material to complete this task. May be required to be certified to operate self propelled vehicles such as forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts and aircraft tow vehicles. Must be eligible to work any shift and overtime as required. May be required to obtain a security clearance.

Describe the physical requirement of the job (e.g. Bending, lifting, overhead work): Must be able to climb, including ladders, stairs and portable stands and navigate these without assistance. Must be able to work at heights 70 feet above the ground. Must be able to work in extreme heat/cold. Must be able to work in the following environmental conditions: noise, proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, chemicals, odors, dust. Must be able to bend, reach, stoop, balance, push, pull, kneel, grasp, crouch, crawl, and work in close spaces that restrict movement including aircraft fuel tanks for extended periods of time. Must be able to stand for sustained periods of time. Must be able to walk for long distances or move from one work site to another. Must be able to work primarily with fingers such as picking, pinching, typing. Must be able to communicate effectively. Must have close visual acuity such as viewing a computer terminal, extensive reading, visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines, and/or assembly or fabrication parts at close distance to the eyes. Must be capable of routinely performing industry standard ambidextriosities required to complete tasks. Must be able to maneuver up to 50 pounds. Must have own tools. If hired, tools must be shadowed. L-3/IS will provide the material to complete this task.
