The incumbent acts as an aircraft mechanic and maintains aircraft/aircraft trainers in accordance with Technical Orders (T.O.’s) and other directives. Leads aircraft workers and helpers as required.
OPERATIONS TO BE PERFORMED INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
· Acts as technical advisor to aircraft workers/helpers to diagnose and correct malfunctions of major aircraft systems.
· Inspects, operates, troubleshoots, repairs and modifies (TCTO’s) hydraulic, fuel, rigging, landing gear, oxygen, pressurization, pneumatic, air conditioning, heating, deicing, fire extinguishing and other aircraft systems as required.
· Maintain and repair aircraft engines and propellers.
· Inspect and maintain aircraft engine and propeller trainers.
· Inspect and maintain support equipment, special tools, slings, hoist, maintenance stands, engine handling adapters, fixtures, pushers, and pullers.
· Repairs, reworks and replaces components or parts of systems to ensure proper system operation.
· Required to obtain Red X certifications for the inspection of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and inspections.
· Makes necessary adjustments to controls, linkages and actuating mechanisms.
· Jacks and levels aircraft for major modifications, or alignment checks and for the functional evaluation of system operation.
· Operates assigned Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE) support equipment as required.
· Tests and checks systems with assistance from specialist in occupations such as electronic, electrical and armament, as required.
· Records all inspection/maintenance action using AFTO Forms, computer terminals or other means as required.
· Independently plans sequence of tasks, selects appropriate tools and equipment and refers to workbooks and technical publications to determine specifications to be met.
· Advises the Aircraft Lead on needs for schedule changes, budget requirements, supply problems and other factors affecting mission and customer support.
· Complies with all company, OSHA, AFOSH and customer safety requirements.
· Actively enforces the company’s EEO/Affirmative Action Program.
· Performs other duties as required.
