Position Summary:


The Avionics Technician is responsible for conducting repairs, modifications, inspections on avionics systems in a wide variety of aircraft. Position is also responsible for completing simple avionics installations as well as pitot-stat / transponder (411/413) avionics certs. A&P or maintenance experience a definite plus.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:


  • Perform airframe electrical and avionics repairs, inspections, installations and modifications on a variety of aircraft and associated systems.
  • Performs the functional testing required to isolate a customer complaint in a particular avionics system and repairs that aircraft system in accordance with FAA procedures. 
  • Based on in-flight analysis and/or evaluation of information received from the customer, diagnoses problems, and takes corrective action.
  • Troubleshoots problems to defective units or wiring discrepancies.
  • Replaces defective units, repairs wiring, and modifies aircraft as required.
  • As required, accompanies pilot in flight to functional test repaired systems and/or aligned systems. 
  • Ensure that all repairs are accomplished by approved methods and techniques and in accordance with the specifications set forth by the manufacturer in the service manuals, the Federal Aviation Regulations, service bulletins, company manuals, airworthiness directives and other data approved by the FAA.
  • Interpret technical manuals, drawings and blueprints.
  • Displays and promotes a positive attitude toward work and other employees.
  • Assure that all safety precautions are taken and that available protection devices are properly used at all times when applicable to the tasks performed, in order to reduce the risk of possible injury and health problems resulting from performing assigned tasks.
  • A&P or maintenance experience a definite plus.
  • Performs related work as assigned.
Requirements:

Physical Requirements:This work requires the following physical activities.



  • Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Working inside aircraft hangars, on the flight line and inside a variety of aircraft.

 


Environmental Conditions:


  • Industrial/Hangar and flight line environment.

Minimum Education Requirement:


  • Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certificate
  • Inspection Authorization (IA) Certificate, preferred
  • Must have High School Diploma or GED

Minimum Work Experience Requirement:


  • Ability to pass a drug screening test
  • Able to pass a background check
  • Clean driving record
