Senior Aircraft Mechanic – Job Code: R0309C

Job Summary:

Supervises the field aircraft mechanic during fire season. Updates and maintains computerized maintenance tracking programs. Schedules all calendar inspections. Maintains inspection documentations. Insures airworthiness thru Government inspectors.

Principal Accountabilities:

Supervises the field aircraft mechanic during fire season.

Intermediate level of decision making in the field. Must inform PM of any changes made that would effect the operations plan.

Full judgment when it comes to supervision of mechanics.

Must be astute in all areas of aircraft safety.

Must follow all policy and procedures set by DI and the USDAFS. General organization goals with regards to fire support.

Act as a liaison with the US Government maintenance inspector.

Establish parts organization and storage.

Maintain FAA Airworthiness Directives and Manufacture Service Bulletins.

Management Responsibility:

Manage 2 Helicopter Mechanics in the field nationally.

Knowledge & Skills

Must have advanced computer skills mainly with Excel.

Must be able to communicate and motivate daily with Mechanics.

Must have a minimum of 3 years experience in helicopter maintenance.

Must be able to interpret and understand blueprints and wiring schematics.

Requirements:

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to climb on helicopters.

Must be able to lift 50 pounds safely.

Must be able to perform in hot dusty helicopter operations for long hours per day.

Must be fully available to travel with minimal notice during fire season for 12 day travel periods.

Experience:

Must have a minimum of 3 years experience in helicopter maintenance. Must be able to operate machinery and support tooling.

Education:

Must hold an FAA Airframe and Power plant license.
