Job Desc:
The Director of Maintenance (DOM) is the Accountable Manager and is directly responsible to the VP Signature Technic Air.  The DOM is responsible for the facility P&L and oversees all aspects of the maintenance facility. The incumbent plans, directs, and coordinates activities of the maintenance facility for the repair and overhaul of aircraft, engines and components. He or she will also maintain inspection standards, methods and procedures used by facility in complying with all applicable manufacturer’s specifications, recommendations and FARs. The incumbent will act as a liaison between the, customers, FAA and other government agencies and will have the final authority in approving aircraft for return to service.
 
Shall have experience with corporate jet aircraft such as Cessna Citation; Hawker Beechcraft; Falcon; and Challenger as well as piston engine aircraft. Have drive and experience to obtain a FAA repair station certificate for the location with a view to increase volume of work.  Be prepared to work hands on.
 
JOB DESCRIPTION
 
·         Responsible for the new Repair Station and Quality Control Manual.  Conducting reviews and approval of revisions.
·         Review lists of discrepancies on articles in for maintenance.  Plan and prepare maintenance or repair estimates and determine the scope of work and personnel required.
·         Oversee the maintenance of aircraft, power plants, flight system, parts and assemblies, for repair or overhaul.
·         Handle questions and problems on work in progress, as required.
·         Confer, discuss and provide information to customers on scope of work, maintenance required and obtain approval of work orders.
·         Responsible for ensuring, certifying documentation repair and maintenance work conforms to approved technical data, repair station procedures and company quality control standards.  May approve for return to service maintenance, major repair and alterations on aircraft/power plants or components thereof for which the repair station is rated. 
·         Ensures that all inspections are properly performed on all work prior to its approval for return to service, and that the proper inspection and maintenance records, reports and forms required for such release are properly executed.
·         Ensure that all hangar, shop equipment and tools are in a serviceable and working condition. 
·         Ensure adequate housekeeping, installation and maintenance of safety equipment for hangars and facilities.
·         Ensure that employees work is consistent with capability and professional licensing.  Recommend disciplinary action and training of Maintenance Technicians and Leads/Inspectors.
·         Responsible for the company maintaining a library of FAA regulations, Airworthiness Directives, Aircraft Specifications and other technical data necessary for the repair, overhaul, or maintenance of aircraft, accessories and the appliances for which the repair station is rated.
·         Ensure that technical data is available for all work performed.
·         Inspect repair and alterations or delegate to qualified and properly rated personnel for conducting the inspection and approval for return to service of all aircraft or articles processed through the repair station.
·         Ensure that periodic checks and calibrations are made on special tools and test equipment, and that current records are maintained of those tests and calibration.
·         Ensure that all inspection forms, FAA forms, maintenance forms and log entries are being correctly completed and repair station records are being maintained and are current.
·         Determine that aircraft components or parts undergoing overhaul, repair or alteration are in conformance with approved technical data.
·         Ensure applications are made when necessary, for Special Flight Permits or other special authorizations as allowed by the Federal Aviation Regulations.
·         Assign personnel responsible for inspection of work when accomplished at a location other than the repair station.
·         Determine that all company work orders, inspection sheets, and or discrepancies have been completed and inspected before approving the item for return to service.
·         See that all appropriate personnel have access to a current copy of the Repair Station Manual and ensure a periodically review and revision the manual to reflect the current requirements and actual method of operation of the Service Department.
·         Conduct ongoing analysis of competition to including selling points, product offerings and pricing.
·         Creates new opportunities by developing relationships with customers and airport authorities
·         Establish a culture that promotes safety through daily observation, routine audits, maintenance of SHEBBA, monthly safety meetings, training and documented safety procedures.
·         Regularly interact with customers to promote the maintenance facility and to measure the level of customer satisfaction.  Use customer feedback to constantly develop and improve capabilities and processes.
·         Encourage employee suggestions and involvement in the improvement and growth of the maintenance facility, its processes and people.
·         Develop new business plans with capital requirements and anticipated performance.  Prepare the maintenance facility budget with insight for the capability of and opportunities for maintenance.
·         Responsible for financial management of maintenance including capital expenditures, forecasting, budgeting, audit performance and expense management.
·         Carry out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
·         Interview, hire and train employees; plan, assign and direct work; appraise performance; conduct merit reviews, address employee relations issues. 
·         Ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained.
·         Ensure employees receive company communications and necessary training including safety, customer service standards, Company values, etc. 
·         Ensure training and development of employees to improve work performance and maximize employee potential.
Perform scheduled, unscheduled or special inspections in compliance with regulatory authorities and industry standards.
 
Troubleshoot and perform maintenance and repairs on aircraft, engines structures, both sheet metal and composite.
 
Repairs to a variety of electrical, mechanical and hydraulic components and accessories such as propellers, starters, generators, fuel pumps, hydraulic pumps, actuators, wheels, tires and brakes. Service oil, fuel, hydraulic, nitrogen and oxygen systems; inspect and repair pitot static systems and battery services. 
 
Make required work order entries for discrepancies and corrective actions.
 
Perform aircraft engine run and taxi, as qualified, to test system performance. Participate in maintenance test flights for system performance.
 
Understand the operation of various airframe and power plant systems.
 
Assist and train other technicians in repair of systems, structures and engines when needed.
 
Greet incoming aircraft; verify work orders and/or service needs and obtain customerauthorisationfor work to be done.
 
Development of customer proposals, quotations and bids.
Create and administer work orders by entering data from source documents into the computer; proofread all entries to ensure accuracy.
 
Track project progress and verify related billing information.
 
Postlabourhours, adjustments and variances as directed to ensure comprehensive historical record of all actions pertaining to a work order. 
 
Review and close out work orders at project completion; prepare invoices; post closed work orders to the financial system.
 
Review work order and invoice with customer at completion of work and obtain customer approval.
 
Serve as customer advocate by responding to customer requests, complaints and follow up to ensure customer satisfaction.
 
Maintain records of customer comments and complaints; assist management in developing methods and procedures to improve customer service.
 
Run routine and ad hoc status reports as requested.
 
Perform other duties as assigned.


Requirements:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED), Bachelor’s Degree preferred, practical knowledge of Airframe and Engine repair, ten (10) years related experience with manufactures training on aircraft types; or an equivalent combination of education, experience and manufactures type training.  Must have experience with general aviation or corporate jet aircraft. Must possess an A&P license. Must possess a valid state driver’s license. Must have basic computer skills. Must provide all tools necessary to perform essential job functions.
