GROUND AND SIMULATOR INSTRUCTOR

DEPARTMENT NAME: Flight Operations
REPORTS TO: Director of Pilot Training
POSITION SUMMARY:
Conduct pilot ground and simulator instruction in accordance with the Allegiant Air FAA Approved Pilot/Dispatcher Training Program.
Develop, revise, edit and maintain assigned training documents/curricula/syllabi for both classroom and Computer Based Training (CBT) venues.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
– Coordinate with Training Scheduler materials and facilities for, and conduct Initial, Upgrade and Recurrent pilot ground training.
– Monitor, review, edit and develop course material to reflect current line flight operations.
– Provide classroom instruction of Federal Aviation Regulations, Weather, Performance, Weight and Balance and Allegiant Air Flight Operations procedures,
– Provide classroom instruction of aircraft systems, security, and emergency.
– Provide classroom instruction of aircraft normal, abnormal and emergency procedures and operations
– Conduct Initial and Upgrade ground simulator procedures training
– Conduct Initial, Upgrade, Recurrent and additional simulator training in accordance with Department Lesson Plans and procedures.
– Conduct simulator pre and post session instruction, briefings, and ensure adequate student knowledge of relevant Federal Aviation Regulations, Performance, Weight and Balance and Allegiant Air Flight Operations Procedures,
– Provide simulator instruction of aircraft normal, abnormal and emergency procedures and operations
– Review, edit and develop course material to reflect current line flight operations.
– Conduct First Officer oral examinations in preparation for simulator training
– Conduct regular line flight observations
– Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug screen
– Must have authorization to work in the U.S. as defined in the Immigrations Act of 1986
– Ability to read and write English
– Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Pilot Training
SUPERVISES: Allegiant Air Pilots & Pilot candidates during training
INTERACTIONS:
Allegiant Air Management, Flight Operations, Inflight, Maintenance, Stations, Dispatch
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or equivalent; College degree preferred
EXPERIENCE:
4000 hours as a pilot in FAR 121 operations required, including at least 1000 hours FAR 121 Pilot In Command.
Type rating in at least one of the aircraft operated by the Company required.
Minimum of two years of airline, general aviation or military aviation instruction required.
Simulator instruction experience highly desirable.
Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word and Excel highly desirable.
KNOWLEDGE:
Airline Transport Pilot certificate required. FAA or military Flight or Ground Instructor certificate highly desirable.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Office, normally Monday-Friday, usually days. Occasional nights and weekends. Occasional Travel
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to lift 50 lbs to table height
OTHER PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (High Visibility clothing, Ear protection, safety glasses) when required
