REPORTS TO: Manager of Aircraft Stores
POSITION SUMMARY:
Manage the company’s parts, materials, and equipment and tool inventories at both staffed and unstaffed inventory locations. At staffed locations (major maintenance bases), manage Stores Supervisors, Leads and Clerks in the performance of their duties. At unstaffed locations (lesser maintenance bases), interface with station maintenance managers to assure adherence to the company’s material control policies. Establish and maintain control of all inventory processes, assure adherence to procedures and minimize losses.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Manage the control and processing of all aircraft related parts, material, equipment and tooling. Handle day-to-day logistics associated with receiving, storage and shipments. Resolve issues as they arise and keep transactions up to date.
- Define, develop, implement and monitor inventory control procedures at both staffed and unstaffed locations. At unstaffed locations, assure adherence to procedures by the local maintenance shift supervisors. Maintain current, written policies and procedures that address all pertinent processes.
- Assure all stores processes meet both regulatory and company procedural requirements.
- Monitor AIS reports daily and assure discrepant items are continuously cleared.
- Manage material allocations, min-max levels, pending parts and returns from Maintenance, shelf lives, and loaned/borrowed parts. Work with Maintenance Planning to identify or establish material requirements and delivery timing for line and heavy maintenance, MELs, AOGs and special projects. Coordinate with Quality Control to manage quarantine, BER and scrap material processes.
- Assure employee adherence to initial and recurrent employee training requirements.
- Select, train, evaluate and develop stores personnel. Assure employee issues are handled in accordance with established company policies, practices and procedures. Ensure IT system access is appropriate for each employee.
- Participate in the planning, coordination and performance of annual physical inventory counts.
- Facilitate the implementation and use of cycle counting procedures.
- Facilitate the implementation and use of a bar code system for tracking inventory.
- Organize the stores and warehouse facilities to permit the efficient and effective control and processing of inventory, using a bin system. This should include the proper identification, sorting and location of parts. Assure facilities are continually maintained in a clean, organized manner.
- Open and close Stores locations, as required.
- Perform other duties, as assigned.
SUPERVISES: Stock Clerks, Stores Leads, Stores Supervisor
INTERACTIONS: The position’s primary responsibility is to support the Maintenance Department with respect to aircraft repair and servicing activities. This includes, as necessary, Line Maintenance, Quality Control, Heavy Maintenance, Planning and Engineering. To assure the Material Services department’s daily objectives are met, frequent communication with the Technical Director, Materials Services and Manager, Material Services is desirable. Internally, the position will also interact with Accounting, IT, Stations and GSE functions. Externally, the position may interact with purchase and repair vendors, contract maintenance providers and airports
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must pass a five (5) year background check and pre-employment drug screen
- Must have authorization to work in the U.S. as defined in the Immigrations Act of 1986
- Must be able to attend 2 weeks training in Las Vegas
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelors Degree or CPM preferred. Certification in the principles of a continuous improvement system such as TQM, Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing is desired.
EXPERIENCE:
Prefer 5 or more years experience in supply management and/or related activities
KNOWLEDGE:
Strong intellect and analytical aptitude desired, along with ability to manage multiple and varied activities. Ability to prioritize and effectively problem solve. Strong leadership and people management skills.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Warehouse operation. Must be available after hours, as needed, to support the Maintenance Department’s activities which run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Strong work ethic and ability to lift up to 70 lbs. Mental toughness required occasional travel.
