Battery Pack, Wiring, Gas Welding, Soldering~
RESPONSIBILITIES: Inspects and tests battery cell and battery pack assemblies, end items, subassemblies, tungsten inert gas welding operations, soldering and mechanical connections of electronic components, materials, battery pack wiring/wiring harnesses, routing of cables and wires, including crimping of same, battery components and other products utilizing similar manufacturing techniques for conformance to applicable inspection criteria and related operations to produce space battery power systems.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Understands and reads from schematics, blue prints, assembly drawings, planning, wiring list, visual aids, samples, sketches, engineering documents, manufacturing and inspection planning and oral and written instructions. Inspects in-process and completed battery cells and battery pack systems for proper soldering and mechanically connected electronic components to terminals, boards and assemblies. Verifies insulation resistance is within specifications. Inspects installations of wire harnesses, dresses and lays in, the routing and running of wiring and cables to terminals, plugs, connectors and subassemblies. Verifies the application adhesives, paints, coatings, bonding agents, epoxies and cements are per specifications requirements. Inspects/tests manual and computer controlled tungsten inert gas (TIG) welds to ensure sealing of space battery cell pressure vessels to approved specifications and ensures that resistant spot weld of leads to positive electrode plaque sheets and to positive and negative electrodes conform to established quality standards. Inspects shipments to ensure compliance with packaging specifications and the shipping documents have been completed properly. Ensures first article inspection meets the engineering requirements. Ensures and verifies packaged hardware items for compliance of engineering instructions.
