| Job Desc: |
Perform skilled metal bonding and operations involving developmental and production composite parts, assemblies, and subassemblies on aircraft in accordance with DOD, manufacturer, company, supplier and other directives. Fabricate, assemble, repair and install composite components for use in repair and modification of aircraft with or without production aids. Able to read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, process specifications, technical manuals, written instructions, test procedures, sketches, etc. Able to set up and operate computer aided, manual and pneumatic tools and equipment such as: vacuum pumps, computer controlled hot bonders, dust collection equipment, band saw, table saw, drill press, stationery sander, PACS system, etc. Able to use common hand and power tools such as: drill motors, die grinders, skin saws, routers, etc. Able to perform skilled assembly and subassembly operations such as: drilling, filing, filling, reaming, countersinking, stop countersinking, fastening, fitting, aligning, sawing, trimming, shimming, and surface defect removal. Able to perform layup work such as: install thermocouples, lines, gauges, vacuum bags, vacuum parts, blankets or similar material, etc. Able to check and correct vacuum leaks and thermocouples and thermocouple continuity. Also included are the hookup of thermocouple, vacuum, heat transfer, liquid and other system connections between load and ovens. Able to make proper wet lay-ups exercising care to eliminate air bubbles, waves, folds, pockets, resin starved areas, as well as metal bonded repairs exercising care to eliminate disbanded areas, uncured adhesives, etc. Able to perform operations such as weighing, mixing, applying, scribing pre-fitting, sealing, cleaning, bagging, drying, cutting, molding, bonding and fitting.
