Job Purpose:
Resource for all locations to design and develop STC’s and supplement branch facilities for installation projects while maintaining quality company standards that exceeds FAA requirements.
Scope of Responsibilities:
To train, supervise, and successfully manage the Engineering department.
To plan, engineer, design and create new STCs for aircraft modification and installation.
To modify existing STCs, aircraft drawings, and flight manual supplements.
To create a company wide standard for Avionics wiring diagrams and wire marking.
To create a network filing system for all engineering data with accessibility known to all Avionics departments.
To provide technical installation support to the technical sales staff, all companmy departments and the Director of Avionics Business Development.
Responsible for ensuring that all FAA paperwork relating to avionics engineering projects has been completed properly.
Maintain a schedule for ongoing project deadlines.
On a quarterly basis, present a written report of project status and recommendations for future STC development to the President, CFO, Vice President of Branch and Flight Operations and the Director of Avionics Business Development.
Coordinate structural modifications from all companyt bases as a single point of contact for this work.
Seek input from the Avionics Manager and Directors of Technical Services for potential STC work and coordinate with the Director of Avionics Business Development.
Prepare monthly status and authorization for development report for the executive staff (i.e. Vice President of Branch and Flight Operations, CFO, and President).
Train and assist branches as needed in proper procedures, practices and materials.
Provide technical assistance to customers when needed.
Schedule FAA conformity and flight test inspectors.
Assist other departments as directed by the Director of Technical Services.
Assist in preparation of Avionics installation proposals.
Provide budgeting estimates for future STC projects.
Managers and above are required to review all processes in their areas of responsibility to achieve continuous improvement.
Other duties as assigned.

| Requirements: |
Requirements of the position:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Avionics or Aeronautics).
3 years experience or equivalent experience of aircraft avionics systems with experience in obtaining STCs for avionics installations
Electrical or structural DER preferred.
The ability to create, read and understand blue prints and wiring diagrams.
An understanding of FAA requirements and regulations regarding aircraft modifications.
Organizational skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Computer and CAD drawing skills.
The ability to design an aircraft modification and follow it through certification and delivery.
The ability to train employees and delegate effectively.
Will require occasional travel and some travel on demand.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on complex topics to top management, customers, and the general public.
