SUMMARY
The Aircraft Systems Engineer is responsible for providing technical and engineering support, reviewing all technical directives and issuing engineering orders.
II. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Aircraft utility systems experience, or significant experience in one or more of the following aircraft utility systems is required: - Air condition, fire protection, fuel, hydraulic, ice-anti, landing gear, doors, water/waste, bleed air. Familiar with trending and analysis of SB’s, AD’s, writing EO’s/ EA’s.
*Provides technical support and engineering disposition in order to resolve aircraft problems of all types.
*Reviews and actions Airworthiness Directives (ADs) so as to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
*Develops and implements engineering modifications and retrofits to the fleet in accordance with OEM service bulletins in order to increase operational revenue or reduce operational costs.
*Obtains regulatory approval for modifications/repair performed on aircraft systems/components.
*Maintains awareness of FAA regulations and required compliance of FARs, ADs, SBs
*Acts as a technical liaison with aircraft, engine and component manufacturers, vendors and overhaul agencies regarding the overhaul, repair and modification of aircraft systems and/or components, as required by airline policy.
*Issues engineering documentation such as engineering orders, manual supplements and build specifications as required to support the aircraft maintenance operation.
*Monitors engine in-flight performance data and recommends action to correct abnormal trends.
*Assists Maintenance and Materials Departments with parts and components research in order to determine proper effectivity and interchangeability.
*Interfaces with Maintenance, Materials, QA/QC, Flight Operations, In-Flight and Marketing Departments in order to provide solutions to a variety of technical issues on the fleet.
*Converting EA’s to AA’s .This will include manually revising EA’s to AA as well as reviewing AA’s that have been created from an IT automated tool to ensure all data is transferred completely and correctly. Will require reviewing engineering projects to ensure compliance to OEM Service Bulletins and compliance to Airworthiness Directives. Contractor will create and review both the Narrative and AMDS work cards required for each AA. Need good communication skills to coordinate with aircraft fleet engineers to ensure we have all of the latest information required to complete the conversion.

A. Education and/or ExperienceFor the Aircraft Systems Engineer position, a Bachelor’s degree (or its equivalent with engineering as an area of study) and three to five years of commercial aircraft experience are required. (must be at an MRO or Airline!)B. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities*An understanding of FARs and a working knowledge of aircraft maintenance and engineering are required. *Must be able to work well under pressure. *The ability to work with computers is invaluable to this position. *Strong working knowledge of one’s field or discipline in which one finds oneself engaged on a daily basis. Becoming fully aware and informed of current trends, developments, and changes in the sub-industry is critical for this position. |
