Position Summary This position is responsible for assuring structural integrity. Incumbent will provide the technical skills required to assure complex technical programs are designed and analyzed to meet all structural requirements including applicable FAR‘s and design criteria. Engineering/QA Director

Dynamic 145 repair shop in Dallas, TX looking for an experienced Engineering/QA Director to join our collaborative team. This senior management position will lead all engineering/QA activities and should be customer focused, productive, organized, adept at prioritizing, and driven to succeed. Primary responsibilities are:

QA:

Coordinate internal audits to be conducted. Prepare for and ensure success for all external audits (FAA, CASE, customer).
Oversee procedures, documentation, training, compliance, and policies. This includes repair station manual, training files, inspection procedures and manuals, QA procedures and manuals, tech data, specifications, vendor lists and files, calibration data and files, process specifications, travelers, and warranty records production tooling.
Maintain list of personnel approved to return parts to service.
Conduct periodic quality checks on work of inspectors and staff to validate performance of staff. Provide leadership to staff. Train and mentor staff as needed.
Responsible for the overall quality control of receiving, the process, and final inspections. Oversee the disposition of non-conforming parts and materials. Ensure compliance with customer requirements.
Ensure that all work is being inspected and performed in accordance with approved data.

Engineering:

Maintain the flow of parts through the ship with customer specific technical data.
Obtain substantiation for repairs not covered in technical data.
Research and development of data packages, drawings, and procedures for new products.
Review repairs before being sent out for approval to include write up repairs for O.E. M, D.E.R, or customer approval.
Ensure team updates incoming revisions to manuals, filing responses, and drawing. Use blueprints or drawings to look up part numbers and dimensions. Illustrates tools for shop use and issues engineering approved drawings/
Research and development for new products.
Approve documents for FAA data packages on PMA and STC Products.

Requirements:

Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulation for repair and manufacturing. A& P license preferred.
Detailed experience with audits (FAA, CASE, and customer).
Bachelor�s degree in related discipline with ten years experience in quality/engineering in a FAR 145 repair station or Aerospace environment.
Candidate must possess a complete technical understanding and application knowledge of aircraft manufacturing, assembly, tooling, corrective action, demonstrated in-depth knowledge in the application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practices as well as comprehensive leadership skills including organizing, planning, scheduling, and coordinating work schedules to meet deadlines or milestones.
Must possess the ability to resolve complex management and technical problems.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and computer skills. Must have the flexibility to work overtime as needed.
Must be effective at interfacing with other departments, all levels of employees, customers, and potential customers.

Senior Structural Engineer

Senior Structural Engineer will be responsible for preparing reports and verification of structural integrity and airworthiness criteria, interface with design engineers to optimize a solution to design issues and support airworthiness and dynamic testing.

Required Skills:

Analysis of complex structures composed of various materials and fastening methods using Finite Element Analysis software tools as well as hand calculations.
Minimum 12-15 years aviation structural analysis experience.

Secret Security Clearance.

Senior Material Process Engineer WITH EXPERIENCE IN AEEROSPACE

Assists Engineering in determining specification-controlled raw material requirements and then enters/maintains relevant databases for both Kaman Aerostructures.
Conducts research and investigations on new materials and processes to support optimization of manufacturing processes. Advise procurement, engineering, quality and management personnel as to the acceptability of potential alternatives to specification-controlled raw materials, consistent with trade-off considerations.
Interprets customer and nationally recognized heat-treat specifications and creates and updates detailed work instructions for Aerostructures� heat-treat personnel. Interprets customer�s temper inspection requirements and creates engineering guidelines for specifying temper inspection requirements on work orders. Monitors accuracy of those requirements in work orders and instructs engineering when corrections are required. Investigates and analyzes issues resulting in rejected parts at temper inspection and parts improperly heat treated and/or aged due to power outages, equipment malfunctions or work order/operator errors. Prescribes and monitors corrective actions.
Interprets APS (adhesives, paints and sealants) materials requirements through customer/national specifications and specifies manufacturer and/or Kaman experimentation, inspection, certification and/or test report requirements. Contacts suppliers to discuss technical issues when appropriate. Generates and maintains pertinent data in two joint data bases, ie, MDS and ENG 1. Creates, modifies and updates Kaman Production Procedures as required.
Provides support to the Quality Laboratory when testing anomalies arise. Makes suggestions and gives direction for alternative test methods when specified testing is not possible. Assists in interpretation of test results when necessary while maintaining compliance

Minimum Qualifications:

BS Degree in Material Science Engineer and 5 years experience in Metallurgist, Manufacturing, Aerospace, Engineering, metallurgy or other related fields.
Understanding & Interpreting customer Specs
Knowledge / certified in NADCAP
Knowledge of QA processes and procedures
QA Testing
Knowledge of Aluminum Heat Treat
