Job Description:

The Aircraft Worker makes repairs to aircraft following orders of higher grade worker, assists in troubleshooting malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems, removes, cleans, reinstall, or replaces defective parts,
accessories, and components such as worn gaskets, couplings, and fittings, bad actuators, accumulators, gauges, sections of corroded fuel and oil lines.
 
Principal Accountabilities
  • May supervise the jacking and towing of aircraft. 
  • Makes adjustments and settings such as cable tension and seat movement settings and adjustments. 
  • Obtains standard parts such as fuel and oil line connections and fittings, cable linkage, and spark plug cables and harnesses by referring to parts manuals and by making comparisons with samples. 
  • May perform pre-flight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections, enter in the maintenance records description of the work performed. 
  • Services engines and aircraft components at line station making repairs, short of overhaul required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
  • May be required to pass a NAC-I background check
Knowledge & Skills
  • These are SCA jobs and will vary accordingly by assignment within and across contracts.
  • Experience on A-10C or combat aircraft is strongly preferred.
  • TF34-GE-100 engine experience is preferred.
  • Possible promotional opportunities after 90 days of employment.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for extended periods throughout the day Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands 
  • Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders
  • May be required to lift heavy objects whose weight may exceed 50 pounds
  • Must be able to type using a standard keyboard to communicate through e-mail and various software applications
  • Will handle dirty parts and lubricants
  • Will be required to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Must be able to pass a Respirator Physical and Fit Test qualification
  • May be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, fork lift, etc.
  • Must be able to lift/push/pull minimum of 50 pounds
Work Environment:
  • May work in maintenance shop or outside
  • Must be able to work in a shop where the environment is drafty, noisy, and dirty
  • May be exposed to extreme noise from operating equipment
  • May be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts or vehicles
Travel
May be required to support Contract Field Team deployments or temporary duty locations.
 
 
Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of four (4) years actual and recent experience in the repair, modification, maintenance and overhaul of equipment/systems related to individual specialty codes.
  • Completion of high school or equivalent and U.S. military technical school or specialized training course is desired.
