Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
The Safety Auditor conducts regularly scheduled and unscheduled internal evaluation safety and security audits. The safety auditor is part of the Safety and Regulatory Compliance Department and reports directly to the Manager, Regulatory Compliance. The auditor tracks internal evaluation audits, reports and responses, maintains internal evaluation files and assists with department statistical presentations and required management reports.
 
Position may be based in PHL, MDT or SBY dependent on qualifications. 
* Conducts safety and security evaluations, audits and inspections
* Utilizes various Data Collection Tools (DCT) and internal evaluation checklists
* Evaluates conformance with OSHA Regulations and federal and state environmental regulations and programs
* Conducts hazard risk assessments and root cause analysis while actively supporting the company’s Safety Management System (SMS)
* Conducts IATA Operational Safety Audits (IOSA) to ensure company maintains conformity with the IOSA standards and recommended practices (IASRPS)
* Assists in the support of the American Airlines and Piedmont Emergency Response Programs
* Assists with data trend analysis and reporting
* Participates in prioritization of planned evaluations and audits using risk assessment techniques
* Understands and promotes the corporate safety culture, policies and goals, and take measures to implement these ideas through the company
* Other administrative duties as assigned
 
Minimum Qualifications:
* Ability to work independently, set and meet own deadlines
* Ability to work well with all levels of management and support staff
* Knowledge of airline flight, maintenance and ramp operations as well as company policies regarding safety
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Programs
* Excellent communication and writing skills
* Ability to process and analyze data to present reports in a logical manner
* Knowledge of Safety Management System (SMS)
* Flexible work schedule and travel required
* Knowledge of IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA)
* General knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), OSHA Regulations and procedures regarding airline safety
 
Preferred Qualifications:
* Previous airline auditing or safety investigation experience
* Academic safety education or training
 
Work Environment:
* Extensive travel
* Airport ramp environment, subject to varied weather conditions and elevated noise levels
 
Physical Requirements:
Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
