Ground Instructor

Primary Responsibility:

The individuals chosen will instruct initial, recurrent, and generic training classes, evaluate training materials and strive to improve on the overall training process for our fleet of Lear 35/36/45 and Falcon 20.

The duties and responsibilities consist of and include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Lesson planning, classroom set-up, upkeep, and improvements of training materials
• Evaluate and document student progress and performance
• Make recommendations as necessary to the director of training based on student evaluations
• Work to ensure the training program is an ever-evolving learning process

Education Requirements:

• Candidates must have a High School Diploma or GED
• Aviation Related College Degree preferred
• English Fluency in verbal and written communications

Qualifications, Certificates, Licenses & Document Requirements:

• A valid unrestricted driver’s license
• FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with an Instrument Rating
• FAA CFI Certificate
• FAA CFII and/or MEI Certificate preferred
• FAA Ground Instructors Certificate preferred
• FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit

Experience & Professional Skills:

• Must be an excellent listener and presenter in order to meet and exceed the student’s expectations during the training process
• 2,000 hours preferred
• 500 hours CFI dual given preferred
• Experience with a 135 or 121 operator preferred
• Type rated in Falcon 20, LearJet, or LearJet 45 preferred

Work Environment & Culture Skills:

• Intermediate MS Office knowledge, computer software & internet proficiency
• Have the ability to use Apple iPad and PC or compatible computers
• Candidate must pass DOT/FAA pre-employment drug screen and a DOT/FAA compliant background check
• Candidate should be motivated, resourceful, energetic, organized, and able to manage and be managed
• Candidate must be reliable, punctual and flexible
• Candidate must be able to multi-task, respect and maintain confidentiality
• Candidate must be ethical, trustworthy with sensitive information

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

• Employees are regularly required to, stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard
• Moderate to heavy lifting is required (up to 70lbs)
• Must be able to climb and use a ladder, work stands, platforms and lift equipment
• Operate and egress through airplane emergency exits, and perform preflight inspections of aircraft
• Work within a confined workspace(s)

Location Requirements:

• Operation based in Ypsilanti, MI at Willow Run Airport (YIP)
• There is no ability to work from home
• There will be no relocation package for this position

Shift Requirements:

• Must be available full-time
