Job Description:

Working Lead Position: This role requires active participation in avionics installation activities while providing technical direction and oversight to assigned technicians.

The Avionics Lead Installation Technician is responsible for directing and assisting avionics technicians to accomplish assigned functions and coordinating with the Director of Installation Operations on work assignments, work progress, Inspector requirements, delays, personnel requirements, and job assignment turnovers. This position reports to the Director of Installation Operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the safe and efficient performance of all assigned duties and personnel.
  • Direct and assist avionics installation technicians in accomplishing assigned work.
  • Perform duties in accordance with Company policies, the Repair Station Manual, and applicable FAA regulations.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Installation Operations regarding work assignments, project status, inspection requirements, delays, personnel needs, and job turnovers.
  • Provide technical guidance and on-the-job training in avionics installation practices, shop procedures, safety standards, and Company policies.
  • Ensure personnel are assigned only to duties for which they are qualified.
  • Assist in maintaining and improving the technical skills and qualifications of assigned technicians.
  • Maintain work areas, shop equipment, and materials in a safe, clean, and operational condition.
  • Sign for completed work on installation documentation and flight logs and co-sign work performed by technicians within the assigned section.
  • Approve avionics and related electronic systems and components for return to service as authorized.
  • Must be available to work extended hours and weekends as needed to meet customer schedules.
Job Requirements:

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Previous avionics installation experience required, along with demonstrated experience serving as a lead technician, crew lead, or in a similar role directing and assisting other technicians.
  • Must possess the experience, technical knowledge, and qualifications necessary to obtain and maintain an FAA Repairman Certificate through the Company Repair Station.
  • Thorough knowledge of avionics installation practices, aircraft wiring, troubleshooting, aircraft modification procedures, and applicable FAA regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret installation drawings, wiring diagrams, engineering data, and technical manuals.
  • Strong technical, organizational, and troubleshooting skills with the ability to lead by example.
  • Experience with avionics installations and modifications on piston, turboprop, and turbine-powered fixed-wing aircraft required. Experience on King Air, Citation, Hawker, Learjet, Challenger, Falcon, Gulfstream, Pilatus, Cirrus, and similar aircraft preferred. Rotorcraft avionics installation experience is a plus.
  • Avionics-related certifications such as NCATT AET, FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL), manufacturer training, or equivalent technical training are a plus.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing schedules and customer requirements in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality workmanship, customer service, and teamwork.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in aircraft hangars and maintenance environments.
  • Ability to access confined aircraft spaces and work from ladders, stands, or platforms as required.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment and materials consistent with aircraft installation work.

Employment is contingent upon:

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening.
  • Verification of identity and authorization to work in the United States.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and maintenance of a driving record acceptable to the Company's insurance carrier.
