Position Summary

The Avionics Manager oversees all aspects of the avionics department, ensuring the installation, maintenance, repair, and certification of avionics systems are conducted in compliance with aviation regulations and company standards. This leadership role involves managing personnel, coordinating projects, and ensuring timely and cost-effective service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the avionics team, including technicians and engineers.
• Plan, schedule, and supervise the installation, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of avionics equipment.
• Ensure compliance with FAA regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
• Coordinate with other departments (maintenance, engineering, flight operations) to ensure seamless operations.
• Develop and manage budgets for the avionics department, ensuring cost efficiency.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment certifications, and regulatory compliance.
• Oversee vendor relations, procurement of avionics equipment, and inventory management.
• Provide training and mentorship to team members to ensure skill development and compliance with evolving technologies.
• Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes.
• Handle troubleshooting of complex avionics issues and provide technical expertise when needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Avionics, Electrical Engineering, Aviation Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience in Maintenance and repair, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• In-depth knowledge of FAA regulations and industry standards.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Proficiency with avionics systems, diagnostic tools, and maintenance software.
• Certification such as FCC license or Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification is preferred.

Work Environment

• Primarily based in hangars, maintenance facilities, or offices.
• Occasional travel may be required for off-site inspections or training.
• Ability to work in varying weather conditions and adhere to safety protocols.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Standing, bending, and working in confined spaces may be necessary.
• Use of hand tools and diagnostic equipment regularly.
