Avionics Technician - Piston Aircraft

ATP Flight School is seeking experienced Avionics Technicians to join our growing team. We need techs that can fit in quickly, have a positive attitude, and have General Aviation experience working on piston powered aircraft; preferably Cessna 172, Piper PA-28, and Piper PA-44.

Position Overview

This position maintains and installs avionics/electronics systems in general aviation piston flight training aircraft. The successful candidate will possess the appropriate personality to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a constant focus on safety and quality.

Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications

Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certificate
2 or more years of piston-powered aircraft avionics installation and troubleshooting experience
Knowledge and understanding of Federal Aviation Regulations and manufacturer manuals
Possess adequate tools

Desired Qualifications

Degree or certificate from an accredited two (2) year college, university or technical school in avionics maintenance or electronics
Private pilot’s license
Garmin G500/G1000 maintenance and troubleshooting experience
5 or more years experience in general aviation aircraft avionics

Responsibilities

Installations, inspections, tests, adjustments, and repair of aircraft avionics equipment and systems, including radio systems, compass systems, and navigation systems
Inspects and tests avionics systems for return to service
Performs certifications under FAR 91.411 & FAR 91.413
Assists ATP-owned locations and outside contract maintenance facilities with troubleshooting
Troubleshoots and corrects problems related to avionics systems through the use of wiring diagrams and maintenance manuals
Reads blueprints and schematics
Lays out installation of aircraft avionics assemblies and systems
Sets up and operates ground support and test equipment to perform functional tests of electrical and avionics systems
Effectively researches manufacturers’ manuals for appropriate and safe completion of repair procedures prior to performing repairs
Reads maintenance manuals, instructions and safety information to properly identify and locate components on the aircraft and accurately implement instructions listed in maintenance manuals
Ensures consistent and accurate maintenance of aircraft avionics records by properly documenting & completing required forms, computer entries, and/or logbook entries and required repair station documentation
Performs other duties as assigned
