As an Avionics Technician at StandardAero in Houston, TX, you will be responsible for servicing, inspecting, and installing electrical and electronic components on aircraft, including instruments, sensors, radio communications, antennas, and lights. Your role involves determining the best methods and locations for installing and removing equipment, fabricating wiring harnesses, and performing continuity checks. You will ensure all avionics components meet industry standards and adhere to various regulations and diagrams provided by manufacturers and engineering teams.

In addition to comprehensive airframe services, the facility features a state-of-the-art engine shop and test cell, performing overhauls on TFE731 and CFE738 engines.
What You Will Do:
- Troubleshoot and repair Flight Management Systems, Satcom and Airborne Radio Telephone Systems, RVSM, ADSB, EGPWS/TAWS, communications, navigation, radar, TCAS/XPDR, DME, autopilot/flight director, audio, ADF, Cabin Management/In-flight Entertainment (IFE), and other sophisticated avionics/electronics systems.
- Perform system checks, fault isolation, and component-level replacement or repair under guidance from senior technicians or leads.
- Install, align, and wire electrical and electronic components such as instruments, sensors, radio communications, antennas, junction boxes, and lights.
- Fabricate wiring harnesses, solder connector plugs, strip and hand-lug wiring, identify wiring, and install surface control indicating systems.
- Perform terminal splicing, wire junction boxes, route wiring and conduit, and complete any other necessary electrical bench or installation work for aircraft repair or modification.
- Conduct continuity checks and assist in the functional check-out of complete aircraft systems.
- Assist with more complex electrical work as required and troubleshoot, locate, and correct wiring issues.
- Adhere to shop standards, manufacturers’ standards, federal and military standards, including FAA Advisory Circulars.
- Document all work accomplished in a clear, concise, and accurate manner.
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience serving as an Avionics Technician or Aircraft Electrician.
- Familiarity with troubleshooting practices, wiring diagrams, and avionics component function.
- Ability to operate hand and power tools and electrical test equipment.
- Ability to understand, interpret, and follow wiring diagrams.
- Basic knowledge of FAA regulations and documentation procedures.
- Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Formal technical training in avionics systems or aircraft electronics.
- FCC license and/or FAA A&P certificate strongly preferred.
- Prior experience in a Business Aviation MRO and/or servicing Falcon, Learjet, Challenger, Hawker, or Embraer aircraft.
Experience installing or troubleshooting Starlink, GoGo, Fusion, Honeywell, or Garmin systems
